Daniel

The grey, pink and tan hills reflect the waning sunlight. Compared to earth, it's a bleak and stark landscape that spews out in front of Daniel. This is just one more example in the endless steam of nothingness that is Wormwood.
Daniel has spent the last several weeks (has it been months perhaps?) tracking a Demon that happened across his path. Normally a solitary being would be of little interest to Daniel, but this case is special. This demon leaves a fascinating trail of broken bodies in its wake. Each one tortured to the point of death and then left for nature to finish the task. Most were dead by the time Daniel discovered their tortured and mutilated bodies...but some, some were still breathing.
Daniel attempted to heal the first one that he came across and was technically successful. What he could not heal, though, was the man's mind. He stared blankly and unblinkingly off into the distance. No prodding from Daniel could bring him out of his stupor. After that, Daniel was careful to glean what information he could and then ease the poor souls into death.
The latest victim Daniel came across was also dead, but something else caught his attention as he surveyed the crevice where he tracked the man. Someone else had been there first. The tracks were small in the occasional dust, likely the prints of a woman. Judging be the tracks around the man, she had spent some time with the him. Perhaps she was able to glean more information out of him than what Daniel has been able to get from any of the demons previous victims. Going back to the main trail, Daniel follows the woman's tracks until a wheeled vehicle apparently picked her up. Having not better recourse, he follows the tire tracks instead.
As dusk approaches, Daniel comes over a small rise. The pungent smell of old smoke hangs in the air as he looks down at a small mining town nestled in a valley. Judging by the damage to the town it seems likely that it was the victim of a recent demon horde raid. A structure that is likely the towns temple sits in partial ruin. The upper floor, apparently made of wood, has been almost entirely destroyed by fire. If his instincts are correct, she's down their somewhere. Perhaps his quarry is as well. Now, where to begin?
