Sitting at a smooth resin table, the five would-be heroes sip their cool water, munch on very tasty fried grubs and contemplate the fate that has brought them all together. The fried grubs are exceptionally well made with hints of exotic seasonings that likely came through from other dimensions. Likely not cheap, but the cook in this little cafeteria obviously takes pride in his work.

Having exchanged stories, they each sit and think. Locked in their own minds, they try to figure out what to do next. The Redeemer, who has been mostly contemplative throughout the evening, finally breaks the silence with a soft, deep voice "Something doesn't feel right." As the others at the table look to him questioningly he continues "I mean, the timing of all of this. We assume that it's all centered around the fire in the church, but what if the fire wasn't the center, but just one piece in a longer series of events. Before we know where to go next, we need to understand the pieces of what's happened today." With that, he leans back in his chair and when asked if he has any ideas, he simply shrugs his shoulders.

After sitting in silence for a few moments Jordan flags down the proprietor and inquires "Do you have anything a little stronger than this good sir?" He says pointing to the glass of water.

Smiling, the man responds "I do have something that may not be quite ready yet, but you're welcome to try a sample." He leaves and returns moments later with five mismatched miniature glasses that are chipped around the edges. From a small glass bottle he pours a clear, oily liquid into each one.

OOC: Since no one's responding I'm guessing that means that everyone is waiting for somebody else to speak up. To help you out, what I'm looking for here is for one or more of you to throw out ideas of what to do next. The Orb is missing and there was a lot of suspicious activity surrounding it's disappearance. "What's related and what's not" seems to be the big question on the table? How are you going to find out? Definitely aren't going to get anywhere sitting around this table getting drunk. Just as a little hint, almost everything in Chapter 1 is related somehow. I do say almost, because there were a few people and conversations thrown in just to make the story better. However, it's up to you to figure out who and what is just filler and what's not. You can't do that if someone doesn't get the conversation going. This is your time to roll play and the time for the GM to sit back and wait for you to decide your course of action.

Anastasia looks around to see what everyones going to do about this "sample".
"Well since its a tester, why don't we just test a little of it, but also we need to find out the church and the center of fire as the Redeemer has suggested."
With this Anastasia looks to the Redeemer, with a puzzled look in her eyes, and asks "I tend to agree with you ...something doesnt feel right and we need to get to the bottom of this and figure out whats going on. I'm sure we all agree on this and whats do you think we should do next?"
Awaiting for whomever to respond, she sips a little of the clear liquid and looks around to see if anyone else has even bothered to taste it or what their going to do. As patient as Anastasia can be, its somewhat getting on her nerves for some odd reason and wants to know and get the answers quickly. Now she awaits .....

OOC: It's been over a week since my post and only one player has responded. I realize that this was a holiday weekend so I'll give it a couple more days. If I don't at least hear back from the other two players by the end of this week I will cancel this game as a lost cause with apologies to those that actually wanted to play.

"Well it seems like we are forming a plan of action here. First I think we should take a look around and talk to some of the people to see if they might know or have seen something that has been missed. If we are all to be working together, I think it would also be a good idea to know some of each others skills so we can assign tasks to those that might have some background in said tasks. Who knows if we will uncover anything that might help us but I agree with what has been said already, things seem a bit off around here. Can I get some water if it's not too much trouble please? I don't mind a taste here and there but like a clear head when planning and putting things together. Thanks."

"I agree..we need to be as level headed about this and on the alert and find out the answers as soon as we can. Should we go ahead and split up and start with the plan?"
Anastasia is very anxious and has a way with dealing with people and may be able to get thru a little more than the others, since some are wanting to have more of the drinks offered then being level headed as Gerard has suggested.
"So Gerard, I am ready to go with whomever you want or out on my own. We need this done as soon as possible and sitting here just isnt getting us anywhere."

Gerard

"Would you like to split up or stick together? I can try and help around here if any rebuilding or whatever is needed and talk to who I encounter doing that. Is there a group you would like to talk to specifically? Or for that matter anyone else here so we can get this moving? I'd rather not just sit around here much longer and watch you all end up drinking and telling stories. So I'll head out to see what I can find out, Anastasia feel free to mingle with who you would like. Say meet back here in a few hours to see if we have any new news whatever that might be?"

"If we split up we can get more accomplished and i think we should just talk to as many people as we can but lets make sure we dont talk to the same people as to not annoy them. .Gerards right, we need to get out there and find out this information instead of just sitting around shooting the breeze and drinking..The more level headed we are, the better we can focus on the questions to ask and the answers we get."
Anastasia is ready to go looking at everyone sitting there, not doing anything as of yet.."Anyone want to go with me?"

"Well you and I might as well head out and see if we can learn anything that might help us. The others seem to want to sit around and tell stories and drink. Shall we split up then? Hopefully we can find out some things and get things moving along."

OOC: First, I wanted to apologize for the delayed response. I was truly hoping the "Darl" would chose to join ranks. Maybe he'll come around yet.

Jordan, having sat silently, contemplating, while the others spoke finally rouses himself...his drink sitting mostly untouched in front of him. "Yes, we should go about and question people. I think we need to start with the ones most likely to know something." Looking at Anastasia and Gerard--Darl has apparently fallen asleep in his chair--he continues. "My daughter, I will accompany you. I didn't like leaving you earlier today and I'd rather not do that again so soon. Where would you like to start."

"And I'd be happy to go with you." The one known as The Redeemer says to Gerard. "I'm afraid I'm not very good with people, but a second perspective while we're poking around might be useful. Just lead the way."

Neither of the two seem particularly ready to share the intimate details about their past, but Gerard knows that Anastasia, The Redeemer and Jordan had been travelling together for some time. While Jordan referred to Anastasia as his daughter, Gerard really sees little resemblance and they seem to be too close in age. In their earlier discussions Gerard learned that the two men are know as Apoks. Rumor has it that men and women who once betrayed their fellow humans and worked with the demons are forever possessed by the darkness of what they did. Some, known as Apoks rebelled against their new masters. It's unclear from the rumors whether Apoks still work for the Unholy and only feign to help the rest of humanity or whether they are truly good now. From Gerards experience, he would tend to side with faction that believes they are truly on the side of humans.

Darlok, or Darl for short, on the other hand, is definitely something different. Standing at what has to be close to eight feet tall, his muscular, grissly, light blue-grey colored body is covered in places with silver metal plating. Although is calm, friendly demeanor says differently, one can't help but wonder who's side he's really on. One thing is certain, no human in his right mind would challenge him to arm wrestling.
