Family Origin
Shep's family comes from Camp Wilson, in fact, his grandfather started the town when Shep was just a boy. It's an isolated town in a part of the frontier country of North America that has managed to stay off the radar of most harmful creatures and cultures. Shep's father died almost 14 years ago when a group of townsfolk attempted to go beyond their protected valley and seek help with a disease that was killing everyone off. Shep was the only survivor of that ill fated trek. Shep's father also helped found Camp Wilson and was considered a town hero.

Disposition
Friendly to most everyone and well liked by the rest of the town.

Background
Shep has lived in Camp Wilson since his family started the town when he was just a boy and had never left the valley again until the town needed help. People were dying almost daily from a plague that was sweeping through the valley. Shep, his father and a large number of other town members set out to cross the blue line of energy that cuts off their valley from the world beyond. Shep was the only one that managed to return. His father and every other man and woman that had gone beyond the barrier died. Shep only remembers nightmarish images in bits and pieces of the events, to which he's formed a mental block. He refuses to talk about what happened. He finds it so difficult to push the images from his mind. Consequently, when anybody inquires, they encounter his haunted, vacant expression as he mentally expels the nightmare. Gossip quickly spreads that inquiry into those events is both disrespectful and immoral.

Afterwards, Shep spent increasing time secluded or in the library. Even in seclusion, he's always available for anyone who'd seek his help; Offering advice to any who asked, a friendly ear, a shoulder to cry on or just telling stories about life before the town. He is held in fond, fatherly regard by most of the young men and women, many of whom lost one or both of their own parents to either the plague or whatever abomination lies outside the blue lines of energy, which seem to keep outside forces at bay. Shep remembers some of the nightmarish creatures from his family's desert flight prior to discovering this protected oasis. One particular memory has embarrassingly caused him to wet his pants on more than one occasion. Gratefully, he has since gained greater control at suppressing the old memories."
