Sam looks confused, maybe even slightly confused or hurt as Megana leaves. She cuts straight across the street and heads into the residential district. She crosses the street and heads towards the end of town, where the stables are. She notices Dane and Miss Hoffman sneaking into the back of the library as she walks into the office, where her grandmother is putting bandages on her palms, probably from falling during the three-legged races. She looks up from self treatment, perks and smiles, "Meg! Midnight's doing fine, but don't feed her before the race. It slows her down. You still have about an hour before you need to get to the racetrack. Did you want lunch?" She walks over to the shop fridge and begins digging through before Megana can answer. "Your mother is taking a break at the Bottoms Up. I don't like her hanging out there." She stands up, holding sandwich bread, lettuce, tomato, pickles, thin sliced meats and mayonnaise; preparing to make a sandwich, "I heard you were there last night. Playing poker. Did you win?"

"No i havnt had lunch yet but did you see the fire over by the falls?"Megana brushes midnight's coat trying to soothe her nerves and do a once over checking on midnight.

Midnight peeks through the window, like she always does as she brushes her. She begins nudging Megana right after her grandma hands her the tasty looking sandwich, begging for a 'bite.' Meg knows that a bite is the whole thing.

"No, I hope it's not serious," Belle replies. "Let's hope it doesn't interrupt the festivities. I planned on coming back out later to laugh at the drunks." She then pours some milk for Meg and sets it in front of her. Midnight continues trying to get Meg's attention, even trying to snort some moisture across the sandwich.

For a very brief moment, Megana swears she hears Midnight speak, saying something like, "Please?" without a voice.

Megana looks at midnight confuse but shakes her head thinking maybe the hunger is getting to her...so she goes to eat the sandwhich and drink her milk. "Thank you. Sigh i hope it wont cancel the race..."

"Me too, dear. With this many people, they'll get to see a real champion racer in you! You might even get a movie deal!" Belle laughs as she points her old crooked finger, smiling proudly at Megana. "And don't you dare feed Midnight!" She says, pointing out that Midnight has stretched her neck inside the window and is trying to sneak a bite of Megana's sandwich while she's distracted and not looking.

"Please?" She swears it's the horse, but no distinct voice, almost like a whisper. Maybe she is going crazy.

"No more, Midnight!" Meg's grandma shouts, "You have to race! You're always hungry." She grimaces, "She has such a personality, like you." She pinches Meg's cheek.

Megana wonders how sam is doing as she quickly eats her sandwhich "you always say big stomach equals big heart!"

"I suppose so," Belle proudly smiles, admiring Megana's inherited beauty. "Alright, dear. Go have fun for another hour. That's when check in is and it's still another half an hour before the race. You'll have enough time to warm up."

Midnight snorts, nudging Meg again. Belle scolds the horse, "Midnight! You have to race in a few hours. No food! You can have more after you race." as though the horse understands every word.

Once again, Meg hears, "Awww, Please? An apple maybe?" Yet, she's sure that her grandma can't hear it.

"No treats or food before the race midnight! Afterwards yes you can" as she pats midnights nose. Damn right Megana seems like shes having an arguement with a horse but its nonthing more than playful
