Rifts Dead Man's Hand - Bottoms Up

"You know it, sheriff," Megana tips her hat up with a big grin. Talking about animals always perks her up. She's been waiting all year for this race and she has been training hard. She's raced the sheriff a few times.

"It's cus of that horse. Midnight, right?" The sheriff asks. "Mixed with your skill. Nearly unstoppable!"

Vi, sees the deck of cards slide towards her and decides to get up and head out. "Sorry guys, let someone else deal the cards. I'm gonna hit the gym and train a bit more since the fight is tomorrow."

"I wouldn't, Violet," Miss Hoffman advises, "Teddy was in a bad mood. I know him well enough. He'll be there too." She slides the cards to Johnny, "That would make it your deal if Vi leaves."

The sheriff gets up, heading for the door as he states, "I'm going to head out and get a few preparations done for tomorrow and stop by to talk with little Swenson." He nods to Dane, "I'll let your dad know that you're a formidable poker player," He waves back at Angie as he shuts the door, "Take care, Mrs. Coulee."

Seconds later, Felix walks in, Frank's dad, "Alright, I brought more kegs, wine and whiskey barrels and some of Francis' creations. Two more loads and we should be set for the first half of tomorrow." He notices Frank sitting there and laughs, "And... I think I made a mistake giving him the day off."

Since Frank and Brad are without any corn to bet, Dan asks the big winner, Meg Hoffman, "Think you could loan those two some kernel's so they can try again?"

Johnny takes the cards, begrudgingly, and begins shuffling, using the bridge method. Miss Hoffman smiles and slides ten seeds, each, back to Frank and Brad. She then counts out more seeds to be able to give everyone back the seeds that they'd originally started with.

Frank gets up from the table and returns to the bar to eat his food, "Well that didn't go like I was thinking but it was still pretty fun."

"It was heh but yeah.i should head back to the ranch to care for the animals" she looks around at everyone and tips her hat to all, vefore exclaiming " ill see yall during tomorrow's festivities !" She walks out to head back to her families ranch. Wondering something she may have heard today....

As the two girls leave Brad waves and calls out, "See you later."

He nods to Miss Hoffman as she gives him more seeds to play with and settles in to try again.

Dane plays a few more hands with anyone that sticks around. Trying to refine his skills at quickly deducing the odds of winning for each combination he's dealt and using that knowledge to guide his betting.

Dane plays a few more hands with Brad, Miss Hoffman and Johnny. Johnny pulls off a full house, beating everyone's pairs. Brad wins the second hand with a pair of tens. Afterwards, Dane finds himself getting better and better at the game. He wins more often than of the others. Afterwards, they all head their respective ways.

Vi finds a spot to sit down and enjoys the music. As she listens to the music , the feeling of everything just fades away. enjoying the calm before the storm.
