VI stops and gives Megana a piggy back ride, "Don't worry, you won't die," as she generates a low voltage pulses to move Megana's muscles,
She grunt in pain as she nods, "I need to do better."
Vi chuckles, "Naw, you think?" as she pushes against the biting cold and numbness.
OOC: Ignore the gloves on Megana. Couldn't figure out how to remove them.
The trio finally reach the familiar corridors leading into the fortified camp. As soon as they arrive, the tribesmen take the wolf and begin preparing it for food. Bayla blesses the kill, while several tribeswomen rush to relieve Vi of Megana’s weight, some yelping when Meg’s lingering static shocks arc to their hands. They guide her into one of the makeshift rooms centered around a large fire pit. As sensation creeps back into her legs, so does the agony; the unmistakable onset of frostbite. May, one of the women, wraps her hands in leather and positions Megana’s fingers and feet close to the flames. The pain intensifies. For a moment Megana sees her fingertips had turned blue, and the sight drives home just how close she came to dying. She needs warmer clothing, and soon.
Vi suffers the same recovery pain, though not as severely. Despite wearing the same type of outfit as Megana, she somehow endured the cold better. A tribesman who had gone searching for them returns with Thunder in tow, the horse apparently faring just fine on his own. Dusty, wrapped in warm furs and radiating confidence, leads Vi into the same room and helps her warm up.
“Alright,” he says, “with that one wolf, small as the portions will be, we should at least earn you girls some boots, gloves, and hats. And start using a spare shirt or anything you’ve got as a scarf. You’ll need to cover your faces out there. Forget that, and you’re basically committing suicide. Understand?” He melts snow over the fire and begins washing the frozen blood from his gloves. “Everything I taught you about fighting means nothing if you ignore how dangerous Mother Nature is.”
Bayla returns with hot tea for all three just as Chief Crystal Rock arrives. He praises their dedication and the risk they took hunting for the tribe. Later, once everyone has warmed up, he explains the next task: he wants them to drive the deer toward the camp. The animals pass by twice a day, near dawn and dusk, using the shallow snow trails to dig for food.
“One deer will feed the entire tribe for half a week,” he says. “A full week if we ration.” With that, he leaves the community room, giving the trio space to mingle with the tribe, who now greet them with far more warmth and acceptance.
