Shep produces mental map of his town to figure out the most open route to get to Sheriff Harper. He wants the most direct route to avoids any narrow streets.
Behind him is the library, convenience store, hardware stores and trading posts. Several houses line the south side of the street going west, while numerous storefronts line the north, facing towards Lake Crenshaw. Beyond that, four blocks away, is where the Sheriff should be. It's a straight run up the wide street.
Shep checks everyone to see if they're ready. "Alright, let's keep it at a safe speed. The creatures..." Shep uses the term to avoid thinking that they were former friends "...are slow, so we don't need to worry about outrunning them. Let's make sure we don't drive headlong into a mess." Shep fires up the four wheeler and as soon as everyone is in place he takes off at a quick, but safe, pace. Jack follows closely behind, the officer on the back, barely holding on. His face is incredibly pale as drool flows from his mouth as though he may vomit.
Nothing appears along the alleys and side streets. The walking dead are either sparse, or all packed in a different location. Eventually, they reach a two story building with open front double doors. From the side, it's difficult to see what's just inside, however, the sounds of gasps and moans can be heard.

After having awkwardly carried both the pitchfork and the sword during the ride over, Reggie recovers his equilibrium after climbing off the ATV. He's not used to riding on motorized vehicles, and the vibrations through the seat felt odd.
Sticking the sword through his belt, he holds the pitchfork at the ready as he looks at the doorway. "What do you think try, and lure them outside?"

"Good idea" Shep says. "First, I need a weapon, though. Mind if I use that pitchfork while you use the sword?"

The familiar heave and splatter of vomit splashing seems almost too loud for comfort.

Reggie hands Shep the pitchfork, and draws the sword.
"It may not be the best idea, but I'd much rather have the extra room to maneuver out here, rather than be crowded together inside."

Hefting the pitchfork, Shep gets a good grip on it and takes a couple of practice stabs. The pitchfork swings smoothly up into the head of his imaginary foe. "Well, I guess I'm as ready as I'll ever be. What do you think, Reggie, you hide next to the door while I poke my head in to try to lure a couple of them out? After I clear the doorway, you cleave the head off the first couple and then back away from the door so you don't get overwhelmed? Jack, you and me will work together. You have a weapon?"
Shep looks around to the Officer to see if he's still conscious. "You'll be our backup. Save your bullets for if things get out of hand, we may have to bug out in a hurry, so it might be best if you stay on the ATV."

Shep notices the pale faced policeman heave and expel bright red vomit. He seems to be clutching his throat.
Meanwhile, before Shep can stick his head into the darkness. A trio of undead briskly emerge out of the darkness beyond the door, ignoring Shep, Reggie and Jake; their attention completely on the police officer.
Jack goes slack jawed, "One for each of us. Let's do this!" He grunts, leaping toward the lead zombie.

Although surprised by the creatures' sudden exit, Reggie doesn't object to them ignoring him. It'll make getting his first blow in much easier.
Quickly moving towards one, he winds up and makes a two handed swing at the throat (trying to avoid focusing on the face, he doesn't want to think about who this used to be). Hopefully he can decapitate it, then move on to help the others.

Shep picks the one closest to him {ooc: assuming that's not the same one that's closest to Reggie} and mumbling a quick prayer of forgiveness, he attempts a controlled lunge with the pitchfork, aiming for the softest part of the head. The plan is a quick lunge, stab and step back, always keeping the pitchfork between himself and the dead-like people in front of him.

Shep picks the one closest to him and mumbling a quick prayer of forgiveness, he attempts a controlled lunge with the pitchfork, aiming for under the chin, however, it rapidly just steps into the tines, impaling its chest onto the pitchfork and pushing its handle against Shep, bulldozing his feet through the gravel.
Jack goes slack jawed, "One for each of us. Let's do this!" He grunts, leaping toward the lead zombie. With a well placed haymaker, Jack smashes the second zombie back knocking the third one back into the doorway.
Although surprised by the creatures' sudden exit, Reggie doesn't object to them ignoring him. It makes getting his first blow in much easier. Especially with Shep trapping one. He winds up and makes a two handed swing at the throat of the impaled creature. The makeshift sword neatly cleaves through its throat, but is stopped by the spine. A sickly amount of blood begins pouring from its neck.
Meanwhile, the zombie, in front of Jack, swings back. Cleanly hitting him sending him sprawling, his nose and cheek pouring blood. Suprisingly, Jack is still conscious and ready to fight. Even so, Shep and Reggie notice that one more hit may finish him. His face doesn't look pretty and he'd already been hit earlier.
The cop pulls his service weapon and shakily tries aiming. No one can be sure what he's even aiming at between his gasps for breath after vomiting and his wavering, shaky hands.
Both zombies in the doorway quickly shamble back out, intent on getting to the cop. The zombie shishkabob on Shep's 'fork' continues pushing into Shep, taking useless, yet fast swipes at him and Reggie.
