As Daniel flies out doing his recons. He feels something touch him in the party. His attention draws back o the party, seeing Anastasia curious about " him" . He flies up and lands in her hand and falls on her fingers laughing.

Shortly after his focus goes back to the recon work

Anastasia quite shocked that the bat literally lands in her hand but at the same time gets a big laugh out of it and smiles and kinda inspects the lil guy since she hasn't seen one up close.
"Call myself crazy, but I swear this little guy is smiling at me!!" she accidentally says out loud but not enough for everyone to apparently hear with the noise of the atv and rustling wind from the speed of it.
Anastasia smiling back but knows he has things to do, whispers to him "You better get back to your scouting there my little friend. Thank you for visiting me" as she puts out her arm for the little guy to fly away.

Daniels attention draws back to the group , stands up in anastasia's hand, marches back and forth. Thenfalls again with wings spread wide open and laughs again.

By this time daniel focus returns to the recon group.and heads back towards the party so he can eat as well.

Anastasia giggles with the little playful mate she has found and tries not to let others see her giggling so much but its hard..she leans over again and whispers, "I know you have some things to do and you want to play as well, but go take care of your duties and we will play again later." Once again she offers out her hand for the little guy to take off and take flight..sad but giggling to herself as it surely made her day indeed.

Daniel the Colony of Bats lets his mind roam as they venture out, taking in the terrain ahead. He easily tracks the passage of the numerous people that have gone down the path over the past day. He's fairly certain that no one has ventured further from the path than to nearby pillars. At one point Daniel hovers over a three foot wide slimy trail that crossed directly over the path. It reminds him of trails left by slugs back on earth. Whatever made it appears to have kept going and not lingered on the path.

As Anastasia touches the bat she is surprised as it flits over and lands on her. She can feel the claws of it's feet and wings gently scratching her skin. A strange high pitched squeaking comes from it as it rolls on it's side and shakes in what must be it's version of laughter. A couple of minutes of frivolity later and the bat flits away to soon be joined by the rest of the colony. All of the bats coalesce once again and seem to meld like clay back into the death gray skinned with bat wings version of Daniel. {OOC: Slight correction in timeline, Anastasia has her time with the bat while the group is eating lunch. Daniel isn't scouting for more than a few minutes.}

Daniel's figure becomes clay like once more as his body resumes the more pleasing form of a normal looking human. Picking up some of the food that has been offered, he joins the rest of the group in their midday meal.

After stowing the now half empty bag of food, the group resumes their former pattern of riding and walking, and in Daniel's case, turning back into a giant bat-creature and flying scout position.

As they ride, Ethram makes small talk. Jordan prompts him to tell the tale of how he came to be at the town they just left. He explains that it was his desire to see more of the world and to help do something meaningful that led him to Chisel town initially. The overseer of the mines there offered a number of men and women the chance to work in a new settlement for three years. Once done, they could return to Chisel Town and work in the mines there and live in what additional comfort the mine overseers could provide. {OOC: Another brief pause to see if there's anything different anybody is planning on doing during the afternoon part of the trek.}

OOC: Just a thought I wanted to pass on if you don't mind a little more reading. One of the reasons I harp on being specific in what you're character is doing is because of complete selfishness and laziness on my part. By being detailed you give me the opportunity to insert new things into the game that I may not have thought of otherwise. For example, Darl decided to check the body of the Ram Rat (or whatever it was) that he killed. The token that he found was something I invented off the cuff in response to that and it has now become an integral part of the story line. If he never checked the body, that token would not now exist.

Daniel flies back to the group and tells them that he saw a path of slug slime crossing the road roughly 3 feet wide ... after the message is delievered e will fly backout and scan more of the landscape in hopes that something of more interest shows up or what made that trail shows up

Anastasia looks at Daniel with inquistiveness on what hes saying about this slug slime. Before she can ask him anything else he flies off to search for anything else and looking around at what the others think, she pauses for a few minutes then decides what shes going to do at this point in time.
It appears that it comes up pretty fast. "If its ok with everyone, I would like to get out for just a minute and have a little look at what Daniel found, this slug slime and see if I can find out anything more about its origins etc."

"Slime you say? Think I'll take a quick look to see if I can find out anything else or more specific about it. Out here you never know what you might run into. If you like Anastasia we can compare notes and hopefully come up with an overall picture."

'Hmmph ...' Darl grunts. "And I guess I'll stick back here and watch over our stuff while you all go chasing snails," he adds with a wink.

Settling back into his seat and closing his eyes again, he adds, "If the slime trail is old enough, it might be a good idea to check up and down it to see if there's any wagon tracks crossing it, just in case our quarry decided to change directions and leave the road after yesterday's scuffle."

With that, he goes back to his meditation, taking just a moment to ponder just what manner of creature Daniel is (based on his unique abilities), as well as a quick survey of any Wormwood creatures he knows of which leave a slime trail in their wake. (OOC: Sure, might as well make a couple of demon and monster lore checks for me too!)

The party arrives at the place Daniel saw the slime trail and examine it briefly. Wandering a few yards off the trail on either side Gerard and Anastasia come to the conclusion that Daniel's description appears to be an apt one. Comparing notes, they conclude that the creature is likely a Giant Ghost Slug...named such for it's huge size and white, transluscent, ghost like coloring.

Anastasia is able to add a few more details that aren't commonly known. It's rumored that in the waning light of dusk the creature eminates light for a brief period of time adding to the ghost rumors. It's a very rare creature and difficult to find. If it feels vibrations in the air or ground it can dissappear into Wormwood without a trace.

Other than it's dissappearing act, the creature is slow and mostly harmless; although, it has been known to be a huge surprise to an occassional unwary travel to wake up suddenly in the night with the slimy beast attempting to devour them. Neither Anastasia nor Gerard have ever heard of any actual deaths occuring, but with it's ability to retreat into Wormwood.....

Darl hears bits and pieces of the description before he resumes his meditations. Personally, he has grave doubts that this thing actually exists and that the trail isn't just some creation of Daniel's. That thought leads him to contemplating what exactly Daniel is. One thing Darl is sure of is that he's definitely not from WormWood. In
Darl's travels he has heard rumors of wear-beasts on earth and other planets that could describe Daniel. He's also heard of possessed or mutated human type creatures around the time of the earth's apocalypse. It is rumored that they may have been involved in or even instigated the war that devastated that planet and led to the awakening of the magic there. Darl can't be sure that that is what Daniel is...could be either of those or neither. {OOC: Sorry, Darl's Lore rolls were pretty pathetic.}
