Both Meg and Hummer chime in unison, "Yes!" and pile into Hummer's front seats.
Marty wipes at his eyes as he waves them off, emotional for reasons no one fully understands.
The sheriff climbs into his old pickup and pulls out, leading them toward the west end of town. They pass the horse pastures, covered in snow and blanket covered horses standing close to each other for warmth, until he finally parks in front of Megana’s old house. Hummer pulls up beside him. He steps out, motions for Dane to follow, then points at Meg with a clear signal to stay put. As Dane approaches, Joe steps up to the door and knocks.
Mindy answers, shocked to see Dane and Joe. Joe begins, "You're mom called about two vagrants that she picked up? Would you have them come speak with me?"
