Lysanthra looks over the selection of clothes and decides to get a few practical things. She grabs a fur hat with ear flaps, wool gloves, hiking shoes and a fur winter coat. She will need the hiking shoes for herb collecting probably and definitely needs to stay warm. Liz guesses this is enough for now. She feels excited and now a little more prepared. She pays for her purchases, not wanting to be indebted to anyone.

As Maya's turn to pay comes up, she nods to Ethan, squeezing his hand as she pays, "If I see her, I'll get her back here."

Brad thanks Frank for the gas. "My Mountaineer has a pretty big tank but nothing wrong with some for emergencies."

"Or a big bonfire!" Steve cheers as Maya raises a concerned eyebrow at him.

Frank examines everything before getting two of each of the following: stocking cap, fur hat w/ear flaps, heavy work gloves, fine craftsmanship gloves, mittens, snow boots, fur winter coats, leather dusters and vests appropriately sized for Sam and himself. Then turns to Johnny, "Yea, I can help get you a coat. Is that all you need there, buddy ole pal?" He asks, trying to think of what else would be useful for the trip.

Johnny nods, "Thanks," as he begins dressing for the cold walk back to the ATV.

Looking through the selection, Brad chooses a fur hat with ear flaps, fine craftsmanship gloves, wool mittens, snow boots and a fur winter coat. He also grabs a 6-pack of soda bottles.

"Hey! What do we have to eat on the way? Because if we only have rations, then I really love that prize basket I got." He smiles like he'd just had an epiphany. "I have a coupon for a bunch of prime rib, that I can cook, from the butchers." Frank pulls out his prized coupons and holds them like golem held the 'one ring.'.

"You gonna throw them into a volcano?" Johnny laughs.

"Anyone else in need of something?" Frank asks the group, "I can cover a few IOUs." Most everyone shakes their heads.

He gets his ten credit coupon ready for Ethan as Brad mentions, "Uh, Frank, keep in mind that I don't have an oven or microwave in the truck. Unless you plan to cook that meat over a fire or unpack your cooking gear when we camp for the night, it may be better to save that coupon for later."

"If I get a Dutch oven, then I can cook just about anything over a fire. Might be my favorite thing about it. I see your point though. I'll get easier food to campfire cook so to speak. I should make sure I have an iron skillet." Frank knows that he has one. He starts to think about anything else he might need for the trip. Then he grabs 40 credits worth of non-alcoholic beverages for the trip. "Don't worry these drinks are for everyone. Now where are some sausages or brats to cook on the way?" Ethan points Frank to the freezer, "Some freshly cooked protein tastes way better than travel rations. Plus, in this weather, making a nice hearty stew might be better." Frank proceeds to procure more food supplies, then ends up buying enough to feed everyone the whole trip.

Sam and Maya pick up some snacks as well as Johnny and Steve help Frank lug the massive amount of groceries to the ATV. The inside of the ATV is quite comfortable and warm, even if Johnny's about to bounce around in the back. Ethan and Esther stand outside of the store, arm in arm, waving to everyone as they load up.

"Now I feel bad," Johnny explains, "We're the last connection to Vi that they've got and we're leaving. I already had Mindy and Belle crying to me about Megana yesterday."

"Yup..." Sam dryly replies, "It sucks hairy nut sacks...."

Steve hops back on his bike, sliding and strapping his helmet back on. Larry and his obstacle crew await patiently for everyone to be ready. Brad produces a crude paper map that the job board has supplied. It shows the route out of Fort Hammer, through Smith Falls and then slithers east, through some rugged terrain, adjoining a road that meanders through forested valleys. Several more long stretches of rocky plains interrupt the thick cover of pines. Several hundred miles of this should take a while. Upon looking up from the map, he sees his mom and dad, shivering in the cold, pridefully nod at him.

Lysanthra admires the soft and fine detail of her new winter attire. Seeing Frank buy so much food reminds her that some of her herbs and spices may work well with his food.

Lysanthra is glad that she is prepared now and then suddenly remembers that Ingrid gave her a gift. She wonders what it is. She smiles thinking about her friend. She can't wait to open it and decides to check it out now.

As she tears the packaging off, a card falls out. Upon picking it up, she reads it, "I thought you could use this. Please be safe. I miss you. Love Ingrid." With all of the wrapping paper off, all that's left is a box with a lid. She lifts the lid off to reveal the NG-57 Ion Pistol from that same night, months ago.

Johnny perks, "What the hell? Ingrid had that? Where in the hell did she get technology like that?"

Sam and Maya just glance at each other bewildered expressions.

OOC: Adding NG-57 Ion Pistol to Lysanthra's character sheet. Careful with it as it has the firepower to cripple, if not destroy, a conventional combat tank.

Seeing all the food Frank was buying, Brad decides that he should probably get some long term supplies for his truck, just in case.

He'll look for a case of bottled water, MREs/preserved trail food, and also grab himself a couple bags of jerky for snacking. He still has a little storage space in the truck, he only converted 90% or so of the cargo bay into the OR and medical storage.

Seeing all the food Frank bought, Brad decides that he should probably get some long term supplies for his truck, just in case. He finds a ten gallon water dispenser worth 20 credits, rations consisting of trail mix, deer and elk jerky and a small 10 # sack of rice, worth about 30 credits (enough to feed the group for several days), and also grab himself a couple bags of jerky for snacking (6 credits). He still has a little storage space in the truck, he'd only converted 90% or so of the cargo bay into the O.R. and medical storage.

He hurries back to the ATV and loads the stuff in. Steve flashes him a thumbs up as soon as he's finished and climbs back into the Mountaineer. Sam and Johnny also cheer, "Yay! Jerky!"

Frank helps load up before getting in. "Well I'm pretty sure I have everything. At least everything i can think of bringing. I'm ready whenever everyone else is."

Lysanthra holds the gun remembering how scared Ingrid was about what she witnessed. She's not sure how much information to share about it. "She found it," she answered. She appreciates the card and Ingrid's words are touching. Liz will miss her friend. She carefully tucks the gun away in her pack. "Let's go," she says excitedly with a smile. She can't wait for this adventure to begin.

Once there, he'll call over to Larry and inquire, "So, do you want me at the front, the back, or what?"

With that, the convoy heads out. They eventually drive back through Smith Falls. Steve almost holds up the convoy by tearing around but stops just before patrol cars notice. Upon passing the police station, they can see the pickup, that Dane and the sheriff took, parked in front. They pass the waterfalls, which flow through the south part of town with multiple bridges and platforms for people to enjoy the rapid flowing water.

As they leave town, they follow a moderately traveled graveled road, which after about an hour of slower than expected driving, becomes more dirt road than gravel. Large boulders and giant lava rocks dot the landscape; a result of a volcanic explosion. They find it incredibly bumpy while listening to their stuff in the trailer bounce around.

By lunchtime, the convoy stops so that a fire could be quickly made and everyone can heat up some food. Brad checks on his gear, it's still there and safe. No damage. Johnny immediately pesters Frank to cook something. Sam sticks with Brad and Maya as Steve continues tearing around on his bike, pulling off stunts and horsing around. Lysanthra spots the perfect area to build a fire between two large boulders.

Larry walks over and sets down a portable oven and microwave, "I thought that these might be useful for the trip."

Steve finally quits riding around and stops, lifting off his helmet, "Well, that should scare the predators away!" laughing. He walks over to the trailer and asks Brad to unlock it.
