Esther is the town blacksmith, tanner and leatherworking expert. Her husband, Ethan, runs the town market. Together, the two raise their daughter, Vi Warwick, as she likes to call herself. With Vi, they've had their hands full and allow Vi to vent her frustrations through boxing, coached by Coach Driver.
Esther's noticed that blacksmithing and leather work has becoming more of a dying trade, but absolutely loves creating things with her hands. More satisfying than carpentry, glass blowing, masonry or even ranching. She sees her creations as potentially permanent. Even out lasting brick buildings.
Long ago, when Vi was young, rumor states that something tragic happened to Violet. But that information is lost to rumors.

Ethan knows business. He's incredibly adept at appraising, trading, gauging the regional market and speaking with people. His wife, Esther, runs the local blacksmith shop and tannery. Together they raise Violet, their daughter. He's usually the one checking on Vi when she's out and about, making sure she isn't getting into trouble and especially staying away from the town's main problem child, Teddy. He thinks that if the two interacted, that their personalities would make the two friends. That's the last thing Fort Hammer needs.
If ever there is a rumor floating through town, Ethan is the one to hear it.
Long ago, when Vi was young, rumor states that something tragic happened to Violet. But that information is lost to rumors.

Sheriff Ericson is a down to earth lawman who takes his job quite seriously, only answering to Lord Stein. He's quick with a gun and quicker with his words. Joe loves to gamble and spend days off in the Bottoms Up saloon, chatting up the locals and Angela Coulee, the owner. While seemingly innocent, some frown on the sheriff's actions, even if they are mostly innocent, draw questions. He brings his son, Mason, into town every time he's got a day off, which, unfortunately, isn't often.
Otherwise, the sheriff, loves Fort Hammer. He loves interacting with the youth and doesn't hesitate to teach a skill, lesson or story. He's very proud of the town's long and troubled history and how it's overcome it. The sheriff loves a good poker game. He's never seen without his kevlar vest, in case of trouble.

Not much is known about deputy Stryker, other than he always gets his man, woman or creature. He keeps to himself and his son, Dane, is a computer savant. George lives to protect Fort Hammer and is an expert on all things before the apocalypse; even down to details that no one could know. Research into some of his claims have proven that he's correct. Such as timelines of popular actors and singers from those lost times. Some speculate that he's come across a treasure trove of information from the Old World.
George lost his wife, Daisy, after a freak shooting accident, during one of the marksman competitions for the Fort Hammer festival. Dane, unfortunately, witnessed the entire ordeal.

Andy Lee, as most call him, is Fort Hammer's butcher and taxidermist. Once the former mayor of Fort Hammer, he'd lost to Lord Stein, the current ruler of the town. Since his political defeat, he's kept to himself and tries not to involve himself in any politics, including his brother, Jordan's, dealings in Smith Falls. His brother is upset with him not vying for leadership again. Instead, he enjoys the simple life and hopes to one day score a nice girlfriend or even get married. He's had a hard time of it though.

Well written. He's so homely that he's likable.

Max Tokahashi spends his days working for the sheriff's office and the other half helping his wife, Heather, running the Bison Stampede cafe and bakery. He is quite friendly, even though he was accused of being a mutant for most of his childhood due to his exotic features, compared to most town folk. When others, from Smith Falls, exhibited similar features, he became more accepted and eventually met Heather.
Heather is a hard worker and tends to be impatient and loves to travel; something she hasn't been able to do over the past year. Usually Smith Falls is a good travel destination, but sometimes camping is fun. They once visited the Baronies to the east, however, the existence of otherworldly beings and mutants made them uncomfortable and they promptly returned. She hopes that one day Max will decide to retire and move somewhere bigger and safer. Unfortunately, neither has found anywhere safer than Fort Hammer.
