Chaser1 wrote:"How hard did Donnie hit me?" mutters Reggie; unsteadily climbing to his feet. oO(Where am I? Am I hallucinating? Who's talking?)Oo Finally, he says, "Sorry, but I have no idea what you're talking about. Can you say it in simple American?" He moves towards the throne on wobbly legs, trying to locate the voice. "Like, what the heck does 'Ef-emmer-el mean? I've got to warn you, I'm a good christian boy and I ain't about to go worshiping at some strange church. And what kind of critter is a Screamin Sert-e-tuud? Anything like a Screech Owl?"

"Simple-minded!" The voice booms, "Most convenient!" A hooded shadow dances across the corner of Reggie's vision, but remains at the edge of his eyesight upon trying to look. The voice continues, "Hero, simply said, do you want to save your friends from certain eternal doom? Would you do anything to stop that from happening?"

Two more claps echo throughout, ringing in Reggie's ears. "Choose quickly, hero. You're time is expiring."
Reggie narrows his eyes as he looks to wherethe Shadow is currently (or where he thinks it is currently at least). Just cause he doesn't know all those high-falutin' words the voice is tossing around don't mean he's stupid.

"Yeah, I'd do a lot to protect my friends and family. But I'm not too sure about trustin' you. For all I know you're the one responsible for all the weird shit that's been happening today. You pop up outta nowhere and pull me into ... whatever the heck this place is, then bounce around in the shadows while talkin' gibberish and casually insulting me."

If Reggie's balance seems to have stabilized, and the shadow moves close to him, he'll try to tackle it and see about getting some answers.

Shep lowers the gun and looks around for signs of immediate danger. "Can you wake him up?" he asks Jack. "We need to get somewhere safe to regroup and look for weapons." Shep catches a glimpse of the gruesome body of one of the towns children and the bile rises in his throat. He closes his eyes tight and fights back the blackness. A flash of an image blazes across his mind...his father looking at him with fear in his eyes..and then the image is gone. A tear trickles down his weathered cheek as he blinks his eyes and turns back to Jack who can see the haunted look in Shep's eyes. Shep grits his teeth and with tight lips utters "Well?"

Jack reassuringly replies, "Trying..."

Shep catches a glimpse of the gruesome body of one of the town's children. Bile heaves into his throat. He tightly shuts his eyes, forcing back the blackness. An image of his father, fearfully glowering down, blazes across his mind. Then the image fades away. A blinked tear trickles down his weathered cheek while he turns back to Jack.

Jack notices the haunted look in Shep's eyes. He grits his teeth through tight lips; uttering, "Well?"

"He's waking up!" Jack exclaims, as Reggie's dilated eyes slowly open.
************
Reggie's eyes narrow, scanning for the shadow, who's dancing at the edge of his vision, yet never in plain view. Just because he doesn't know all those high-falutin' words don't mean he's stupid. "Yeah, I'd do a lot to protect my friends and family. But I'm not too sure about trustin' you. For all I know you're the one responsible for all the weird shit that's been happening today. Reggie feels more lucid, becoming more aware of fantasy nightmare his subconscious has fabricated. The voice seems more of a distantly, answering growl, "Very well, hero. You've made your decision."
************
Reggie deeply inhales, everything seems bright. A hazy figure darkly looms above him, exclaiming, "He's waking up!" His vision doesn't improve much, but enough to guess that it's Jack. "Reg, you still with us?" caution radiates as he continues, "Do you remember what happened?"

Reggie blinks several times as he tries to focus on Jack's face. "... Donnie has one hell of a right hook."

Suddenly remembering the previous situation in full, His eyes go wide as he abruptly tries to sit up, looking around to see what is happening with Donnie and the others

Reggie blinks several times, focusing on Jack's face. "Donnie has one hell of a right hook."

Suddenly remembering the previous situation. His eyes widen, abruptly sitting up as he takes in the scene. The original corpse lies prone, head smashed on one side; brain matter splattered out of the opposite side like a stomped ketchup packet. Mrs. Wilson lies nearly decapitated about twenty five feet away. Donnie is prone next to the blonde policeman, who's clutching his throat for some reason, but is alive.

Jack, who's kneeling beside Reggie, becomes to come into focus. His concern is evident, "Yeah, he was the blacksmith. I'd hate to take a hit from him. Where did Irina and Ryan go?"

Behind Jack, Shep looks incredibly haunted at the scene. Reggie can only imagine what flashbacks he's experiencing. During Shep's last excursion, over a decade ago, he witnessed more experienced and stronger members of the community being mutilated and murdered.

Reggie takes a couple seconds to gather his thoughts. Gesturing to the out of town cop he says, "The Crenshaw deputy there arrived in a car with his partner. Ryan was in rough shape after taking a punch from Donnie, Irina managed to help him into the car and they took off. The Deputy stayed behind to help me."

He pauses a few moments as he attempts to get to his feet, then asks "Where's my sword?"

Shep's eyes focus again at the mention of the sword. "You have a sword?" He looks around for any signs of immediate danger...and the missing sword. "Deputy, are you okay to walk? We need to find some shelter and some better weapons."

Reggie blushes a bit at Shep's question, "Uhh, I found the old sword my Dad made me when I was a kid. It's on the small side but it's solidly built, and it seemed like a good idea at the time. It was better than nothing." He looks around the area, it couldn't have fallen too far away from where Donnie decked him.

"It's probably better than this revolver I've been trying to use." Shep looks a little abashed. "It took me most of the chamber just to give Donnie the peaceful sleep he was earlier denied. With a sword, you don't have to worry about running out of bullets or needing to reload."
