Dane frowns, the tension easing from certainty to unease as the rider’s words sink in. He doesn’t say anything yet, though. Instead, he glances toward Megana, wanting to see how she takes it before deciding what to think.

Dane blinks, surprised by the conviction in Megana’s voice. He hadn’t seen it that way — to him, the horse just looked exhausted from the run. Maybe he’d missed something. Megana clearly knows more about horses than he does, so he studies Thunder again, this time trying to see what she sees — any sign of pain or distress he might’ve overlooked.

"You should've known better I am sorry but you still cheated. I am sorry that this has happened to you but would you live on a consciousness the error that has happened?" Megana softly replies, "I understand this horse means everything to you but your horse. He's suffering..." Megana pets Thunder.

The rider seems to step back, deeply emotional as tears well in his eyes.

As he checks over Thunder, he once again notices the horse shifting its weight from side to side, signifying discomfort. He notices Thunder in an almost equine pleading posture towards Megana, like it understands that she knows what it's going through. Then he can almost imagine, in his mind's eye, how the bionics within its legs work. Electrodes, which have been designed to receive nerve signals, are horribly placed. Whoever did the surgery is an amatuer and seemed more concerned about finishing the job than doing it right, leaving the horse in unimaginable pain.

The rider breaks down sobbing, "He was my father's horse. Thunder's all I have left and he's a good friend. I'm almost paid off, but the cyberdoc's office said that they'd take the legs back if I don't get my next payment. Racing is all we are good at."

Dane reaches out, running his hands gently down Thunder’s legs, feeling how wrong they are. "The person who did this..." His voice is low, almost a whisper, heavy with sorrow as he feels a fraction of the empathy Megana has shown. "They should never be allowed to operate on an animal again. I can feel how horribly the surgery went. I can see the pain in Thunder’s eyes every time he shifts his weight."

Megana closes her eyes and thinkls for a minute "how Much....how much is needed to pay it off" she asks her mind set on possibly making a deal.

Dane reaches out, running his hands gently down Thunder’s legs, feeling how wrong they are. "The person who did this..." Megana closes her eyes, thinking, "How much... how much is needed to pay it off?" she asks.

Arthur, the rider, seems mortified, "I have two thousand credits left to pay off. But I already have five hundred." He looks at Dane and the coordinator upon hearing what Dane said, "Please no, don't put him down! He's all I've got. I'll buy pain meds and make sure he's comfortable until I can afford a new surgery." Thunder turns his long head and shoots Arthur a, "What the **** did you just say?" look.

Megana can tell that the horse still retains a personality, so it isn't in mortal danger. Forcing him to run must be incredibly painful. The coordinator ponders something, then states, "Two thousand credits is more than most folk around here see in a year. You should talk to Doctor Greenwood. He may be able to do it for much cheaper."

Dane understands from experience that there is a difference between fixing injuries and illnesses as a doctor and fixing technology to work with that same organism. Arthur must recognise this too, but desperation seems to set in, "Well, how much?"

"Well, probably a few hundred credits, but don't quote me on that." He addresses Dane, "Dane, your friend, Brad. Isn't he a natural with both people and animals? He could probably help."

Megana stood there thinking between paying off the debt but she needs the credits for the ranch. Shes bot listening to anyone as the stress builds up, thinking, pondering her next moves....

Dane takes a moment to think before answering. “Yeah… Brad might be able to help with the medical side, but I’m not sure how much he knows about cybernetics.” He gives a small shrug. “Still, it wouldn’t hurt to ask. He’s probably swamped patching up the injured from the games, though.”

He glances back at Thunder, frowning slightly. “I know a bit about cyber, but I’m no doctor. Maybe between the two of us we could figure out something—at least enough to ease the pain. It’s a long shot, but maybe worth trying.”

As he speaks, his thoughts drift toward what he remembers about cybernetic systems, piecing together fragments of things he's read. The idea of digging into research using his new tablet crosses his mind—then he hesitates. The memory of that thing and everything tied to it still makes his stomach tighten.

"Megana, you know a lot about horses. What do you think?"

Megana stood there thinking "i am able to help but we would need a veterinary doctor to still perforn the operation".
