"I'm Reggie." Reggie gives his general directions to town, and where to find the Sheriff's office, "He'll know who to talk to about the funeral. I still need to finish my patrol, not like Apple would be able to keep up with you anyways," he finishes with a wry grin.

Reck solemnly nods and speeds north, towards town, kicking up so much dust and sand.

Reggie waves him off, then continues along his patrol route, though with more looks in the direction of Drive City with the binoculars. He's watching for more refugees mostly, The Pecos Bandits aren't likely to pursue someone this far when they could be pillaging their latest target. He sort of wishes Hunter was still around to help defend the town. Reggie didn't really understand why people were upset about him having cybernetics, it's just tech.

Nothing seems to be coming. He spots some vultures circling several more miles south, past the 'lines.' Likely something died or is about to. To the east and west, it looks like any other day, miserably hot and dry with an occasional, yet welcomed, light breeze. Looking back towards the south, Reggie notices that the line is brighter than normal, actually visible in daylight, and arcing with energy. That's usually rare.

Reggie debates with himself over investigating what has attracted the vultures attention. It could be someone in need of help. Or it could just be a corpse, and not necessarily a person either, it could be a dead coyote just as easily.

But in the end, it is past the Line, which would be dangerous normally. With the Line being more active than usual, that seems to be an even riskier idea. So he continues on, making a mental note to make sure he reports the Line's brightness when he gets back.

Eventually, Reg finishes his morning patrol and heads back. He finds his dad already speaking with Reck, jotting details into his pocket notebook. Hank calls Reggie over, "This is my deputy and son, Reginald," introducing him.

"Yeah, he's who directed me here, sir." Reck replies.

"Besides the obvious, anything new out there?" The sheriff asks Reggie, "Around here, a flipped rock is usually amongst our most exciting events," he's purposely leaving out the zombie attack.

"The south Line is visible in daylight, even from pretty far away. And vultures were circling something on the far side of it," Reggie says to his father.

Turning to Reck, he softly says, "Sorry I couldn't help her." If what Reck is feeling is anything like what Reggie went through after his mom died, then he deserves plenty of sympathy.

Reck’s eyes glisten as he forces the tears back. “It’s okay. I was just… too slow,” he murmurs, sniffling.

The sheriff’s head lifts at the mention of the Line being visible during the day. “Is that so…” He falls quiet, thinking hard, then finally addresses Reck. “Listen, go talk to Dr. Anderson at the clinic. He’s our doctor... and our funeral director. He’ll take care of the arrangements. And I’ll comp you a room at the inn. Just tell ’em Hank sent you.” He gives Reck’s shoulder a gentle pat. “These are hard times, friend. We’re here for you.”

Reggie’s dad guides his son away, an arm wrapped around his shoulders. Once they’re far enough from the others, he stops, turns Reggie toward him, and asks in a low voice, “Did you see any crackling sparks along the Line?”

Reggie thinks back. "It did seem to be arcing some, looking through the binoculars. I didn't get all that close."

OOC: did Reck come through that Line or did he come from a different direction?
If he came through it, Reggie will mention that fact, so his dad can ask Reck for more details.

Reggie thinks back. "It did seem to be arcing some, looking through the binoculars. I didn't get all that close. Reck drove through the lines."

Hank gives a firm nod. “Alright. Go find Karen and Al and have them meet here. Also get on the radio and call in Lt. Mikado and his boys.” If he’s bringing in the Coalition fly boys, whatever is happening just jumped from serious to real serious

Reggie hurries off to complete his assignment. Looking for Karen and Al first of all to pass along the Sheriff's message before heading to the radio to contact the Lieutenant.

Reggie hurries off to complete his assignment. He finds Karen in the workshop, guiding Mr. Masters through bullet casting and the basics of shaping super‑alloy armor plates. At the first mention of Hank needing her, she gives a sharp nod, straps on her armor and weapons, and heads out without hesitation.

Reggie tracks down Al next at the Cheerio Tavern, already nursing his first ale of the morning. Al tips his hat, checks his gear, mounts his horse, and rides up the street toward the sheriff.

Back at Hank’s desk, Reggie spots the radio immediately. He switches to the frequency Shep set before he left and keys the mic. A few seconds of static pass before the speaker crackles alive. “Roger that,” a static-laden voice replies. “This is Sgt. Major Vargas. What’s the sitrep?”

"Sheriff Harper requests your assistance. Looks like the Line south of town is getting active. It's even visible in daylight," he pauses a moment before remembering to say, "Over."
