EOTC: Blue Spruce Ridge
Re: EOTC: Blue Spruce Ridge
The bartender proudly smiles, "Caramel apple whiskey. Pressure fermented caramel with apple whiskey," as he begins to mix another one, chilling it with two wooden cups filled with ice, then smoothly pouring the mixture into another glass, no ice.
Taking the refill, he settles back out of the way and pulls out his harmonica. The melody drifts out quietly into the cold night air as he expertly breezes out an old tune called Red River Valley. Something his father used to hum.
oO(About leaving people behind and wondering if you'll be remembered. Seems fitting these days)Oo
Once he finishes, the bartender nods, "Not bad! I overheard you guys talking about Marnie. She used to come up here every Wednesday. She was looking for Fort Hammer. So far as I knew, no one knows where it is other than clear up north." He pulls out his own harmonica, "Do you know Piano Man? If so, we could do a duet!"

"I know my great-great-grandfather Carl had a brother named Andy. Last I ever heard, Andy had gone north, so Fort Hammer could’ve been his settlement." Shep takes another small sip, nursing the drink so he doesn’t get drunk. "If that’s true, Marnie might be some kind of distant cousin."
He shifts his focus back to the harmonica. "Piano Man... let me think. Play me a few bars and I’ll see if I can pick it up."
Shep raises the harmonica to his lips and starts feeling out the melody and easing into a harmony line.
OOC: Assuming you'll roll to see if it's a song he knows or not. Either way, he'll try to get the gist of it and try to add a harmony part.

The bartender begins belting out the opening to the song as Shep raises the harmonica to his lips and starts feeling out the melody and easing into a harmony line. He doesn't know the song, but understanding enough about music theory is enough for Shep to harmonize with him, creating an almost happy, yet tranquil tune. Once they finish, the bartender cheers, gripping his harmonica with his fist in the air. "That was awesome! We should create a band!"
Someone from down below shouts, "Hey! That was good! Play another one!"

"Okay, one more and then I'd better get some rest for tomorrow." Shep thinks for a minute. "How about Cotton-Eyed Joe." Not his normal go-to, but he picked it up in a bar somewhere in the past couple of months and figures he can play a fair version. He plays a few bars to test if the bartender can keep up.

"I know it!" he exclaims, as he introduces himself, sliding another half drink, inside a paper cup, to Shep, "Name's Jason."
The two belt out the upbeat melody as several people down below either tap their legs or something solid to simulate the drumbeat. By the end, Shep hears multiple cheers from below. Shep notices that he gave him just the right amount of the drink to pour into his paper cup if he needs to go right away. "Will you be back in the morning? We serve a mean 'everything' breakfast bagel."

Re: EOTC: Blue Spruce Ridge
"Well, Jason, it's been a pleasure playing with you," Shep says, pouring what's left in his glass into the paper cup. "I'll definitely want a hearty breakfast in the morning, so count me in for a bagel. If you've got sausage and cheese to make it a proper sandwich, even better."
After saying his goodbyes, Shep checks on his armor and gear, then heads to his bunk to get some rest.
.oO Need to pick up a new book or two somewhere. Maybe I can find something in Silvereno. Oo. he thinks as he settles in for the night.

Jason smiles, "You've got it! Take care, Shep."

The next morning, Hatchet knocks on Shep's door, "Rise and shine, old timer! It's going to be an amazing day! Oh! And Jason has breakfast for us."
OOC: Any last minute prep before munching and heading out?

Re: EOTC: Blue Spruce Ridge
"Yep, meet you over there." Shep chooses to ignore the old timer comment because, well, he is pretty old after all. He finishes cleaning up and shaving, then heads over for breakfast wearing his most comfortable clothes for a day spent inside power armor.
He gives Jason a nod and a thanks as he sits down with Hatchet. "So, tell me a bit about the terrain and any hazards between here and Silvereno. Anything I should know about?"

Upon arriving at Blue Ridge Bar, Jason slides a coffee and his infamous 'everything' bagel, loaded with sharp cheddar cheese, chives, egg, bacon and a seared to perfection sausage patty. He gives Jason a nod and a thanks as he sits down with Hatchet. "So, tell me a bit about the terrain and any hazards between here and Silvereno. Anything I should know about?"
"Yes, careful of the Simvans and occasional demons. The demons usually bother people at night but can come out during the day if they feel spry enough. Simvans are these... I dunno... goblin looking folk who like to tame and ride unnatural beasts. Both hunt people to eat them and are quite lethal when they attack. Other random baddies could be out there too. Us traveling through their 'claimed' territories tends to make them a bit snippy." Hatch takes a bite of toast, after dipping into his runny, heavily peppered, egg yolks, "Once we get there, Silvereno authorities aren't going to let us into town without turning in all of our weapons and... your power armor. I hope that that's not a deal breaker."
Jason sets down two shots, one for each Shep and Hatch, "On the house."
Hatch smiles and nods to him, "Well thank you, Jay. Your bosses may get upset if you're losing them profits."
"Umm, you're my boss?"
He holds up the shot, "Oh yeah... Heh heh. Cheers to safe journeys and new friendships, Shep," and he downs the shot.

Re: EOTC: Blue Spruce Ridge
"Cheers," Shep says before downing his shot as well. He feels the burn of the alcohol warm his throat and chest on the way down. "As long as nobody else is carrying weapons either, we should be fine in Silvereno. Hopefully they've got somewhere secure to keep people from walking off with our gear."
Shep takes a big bite of the bagel sandwich. "Getting there sounds like it could be a little dicey. How are you and anybody else tagging along equipped for armor and weapons?"
