"If you want to stay back here as backup," Tyran states, "I'll go investigate if these are the ones who messed with the lines ... Looks like at least one magic user."

Tyran walks over to the girls and an older man at the far bank of the river. The wolves are long gone but their tracks look like the same ones that were near the traps. The girl on the ground, wearing plasticman armor, keeps an eye on Trevor as the old man is brushing grime, snow and blood from his furs. The girl who's still standing, wearing electrified urban warrior armor, just glances back and forth between her friends and Trevor.

Tyran notices the old man looking around nervously, as though he can sense Tyran's presence.

Tyran mutters as quietly as possible. No one is evil. The man and the electrified girl aren't exhibiting any magical indicators. The girl in the plasticman, she possesses magic, but incredibly low magical reserves (PPE). Delving deeper... all three possess psychic abilities. The girls are low level, but the man is higher level. All three are human.

To the northwest, others are shouting in combat... some concerned about the recent thunder and lightning.

An arrow sticks into the ground between the old man and the one standing. It came from the southwest.

Meanwhile, back at camp, Bayla whispers to Tyran, "Your friends think they are sneaky. They left, but they've earned the right after today. I hope they return when they're ready."

“Friends only so much as we seemed to have a common enemy,” Tyran responds. “Only just met them, and it looked like they could use some help.”

“I take it Union has been having trouble with the wolves as well?” he whispers back.

“Friends only so much as we seemed to have a common enemy,” Tyran responds. “Only just met them, and it looked like they could use some help. I take it Union has been having trouble with the wolves as well?” he whispers back.

As if on cue, the entire camp hears an APC fire up it's engines and begin to move out. Several startled warriors perk up, concerned.

"They're leaving?" One shouts.

Payton sits up, looking at Ant, "The hell? I thought they liked it here! Ant! Go stop them!" Ant, without hesitation, sprints out of the tribal room and out of camp.

Bayla grins, nodding, "Yes, the wolves have been an issue, until today. We were unaware that one of the unnatural dogmen were controlling them. We thank you for your help," addressing both Trevor and Tyran, "Do you plan to stay a while or go back to Buford?"

"Well, now that we know we aren't going to get scalped, that's up to my young friend here. Before the day ends, I need to make sure my pup, Winnie, made it back home. And... T2 probably wants to check on his bird and it's best friend... worm... thingy..."

Tyran laughs. "Well, you don't have to make it sound so ... um ... weird!" he says to Trevor, with a wink.

Turning back to Bayla, he adds, "Well, we set out with the goal of figuring out what was driving the animals away ... I think we've accomplished that. And as it doesn't look like this weather is showing any signs of letting up soon, we're probably much better off breathing back now rather than risking getting caught in the storm in the dark."

"But we certainly do appreciate your welcome and hospitality, Bayla. Well met. And you too, Peyton ... Rest up and let that heal; charging ahead after an injury like that, II think you've earned yourself something of a break!"

Packing up the rejected RMK kit he had pulled from his backpack, he addresses Bayla again. "But before we go ... Is there anything we can maybe do to help repay your hospitality?"

Trevor nods, "Well, if it's acceptable. The boy and I would love to become more acquainted with you!"

"But we certainly do appreciate your welcome and hospitality, Bayla. Well met. And you too, Payton ... Rest up and let that heal; charging ahead after an injury like that, I think you've earned yourself something of a break!"

"Me too," Payton groans, face beginning to pale, "I don't feel so good."

"That's shock setting in, Payton. Lay back, elevate your legs and relax. Like the boy said."

Tyran packs up his RMK as he answers Bayla, "But before we go ... Is there anything we can maybe do to help repay your hospitality?"

Bayla smiles at Tyran, "No. Helping us against the wolves has earned it." her smiles fades but her eyes remain fond, "You remind me of someone. There's a darkness in your eyes. Where are you from?"

“I’m not sure I have an answer for that question,” Tyran responds. “But my earliest memories are of waking up to find that my whole village had been burnt to the ground;” he adds, “So I’m not surprised that a sensitive soul might detect a hint of that darkness lurking beneath the surface. I’m a traveller … a wanderer, I guess; always have been. So I don’t really remember where I’m from - but if you were to press, I think I’d probably settle for Louistown as the closest I can offer as a response.”

“But somehow, I suspect that’s not quite the answer that you are seeking.”

"The answer is good enough," she smiles, "Come, you two, I'd like to discuss something about the area that maybe you could help with." She glances back to Payton, "Rest! No horsing around even if you feel better."

She steps out into the courtyard, where the firepit is being reignited by several of the children, obviously learning to start a fire. She turns as Trevor smiles at the kids' efforts, "There is a menace in the skies from time to time. It doesn't matter the time of year or day, they come randomly. Giant bugs, but smart, like the skeleton soldiers... I was wondering if you could check it out. I could send a few warriors to help. It's four days journey on foot, but with horses, it would only take a day to the northeast. Could I interest you? We could gather up food as a payment."

“Giant bugs, you say?” Tyran asks, his curiosity piqued. “Can you describe them for me? What do they look like?”

“Giant bugs, you say?” Tyran asks, his curiosity piqued. “Can you describe them for me? What do they look like?”

"I've never seen them personally." She replies as she notices Adam come from his quarters, "Adam, could you explain what those giant flying bugs look like?"

He stops in his tracks, stares at her for a moment, face suddenly pale, "Yeah, like they have four arms and two legs and wings. Heads like insects and are bigger than people. And... You won't believe this. They carry guns." He stares at Tyran expecting some recognition, "Have you seen them too?"

Bayla continues for Adam, "Adam and Payton were the only survivors out of a hunting party sent after them. But someone with your abilities should be able to handle them."

OOC: Lore: Monsters: rolled 29% (The closest thing to his description that Tyran knows of are Xiticix)
