Background--
From a young age, Dane showed signs of exceptional intelligence—solving puzzles meant for adults, mastering complex systems, and even writing rudimentary code before most kids could read fluently. But brilliance came at a cost.
At age 12, during a youth science initiative sponsored by the Smith Falls computer science scholarship, he was selected for a high-level computer science integration with cybernetics workshop. The program was intense, and the environment was sterile and isolating. Long hours in labs, exposure to harsh lighting, and a lack of physical activity began to take a toll. He developed a mild but persistent skin condition from chemical exposure—nothing dangerous, but enough to leave his complexion uneven and his features slightly drawn.
Later, during a field test of a prototype sensor rig, he'd helped install, a minor equipment malfunction caused a flash burn across his cheek and jawline. Though the injury healed, it left faint scarring that he never bothered to conceal. To him, it was a badge of learning — a reminder that even mistakes can lead to progress.
Combined with his tendency to avoid social situations and his preference for quiet observation over conversation, he never cultivated the kind of presence that turns heads. His appearance is clean and functional, but not polished—more focused on utility than aesthetics.

Appearance and Demeanor--
Dane has a slim, almost delicate build—more suited to quick thinking and agility than physical confrontation. His posture is upright but relaxed, suggesting someone who’s observant and quietly confident rather than hardened by experience.
His steel gray eyes are striking—cool, intense, and unusually focused for someone his age. They hint at a mind that’s always analyzing, always calculating. He’s clearly gifted, possibly the kind of student who breezes through complex systems and algorithms while others are still figuring out the basics.
His dark brown hair is cropped close, neat and practical, with a subtle widow’s peak that adds a mature edge to his youthful face. It’s a style that suggests discipline—perhaps from a structured upbringing or early training program.
Despite an average physique, he moves with purpose and precision. He’s not athletic, but he’s not clumsy either — just someone who’s more comfortable behind a screen than on a battlefield.
Due to a strangely uneven complexion and faint burn scarring across his cheek and jawline, he’s not especially charismatic or socially dominant, but he’s not awkward either. He’s the quiet type — someone who earns respect through competence rather than charm.

Since the Summer Festival, Dane and Miss Hoffman's relationship has flowered into a steady romance. Often times, trying to sneak episodes of "Eagle Rock Spuds" or watching movies in Smith Falls, Meg tries to avoid seeing Kendal's acting, after seeing what she's really like. Dane has honed his technical skills to a level that he's in high demand by the locals, especially the sheriff's department of Fort Hammer and police force of Smith Falls. As he and his peers grow into adulthood, he's finding that his deep rooted interests are becoming a profession.
