Daniel looks over at the atv,"yeah sorry bout that . I was actually trying not to do damage to the 4 wheeler . But....."
"No problem. I'm just glad you stopped him and I don't have to tell Brother Tobius I lost the ATV." Ethram responds with a halfhearted smile.
"Well, safe journey and thank you for everything Ethram. We really appreciate everything you have done for us so take care!" Anastasia offers.
"Your welcome." Ethram gives an awkward bow. "It's the least I could do for the great heroes. Don't forget about the radio I left you. You can contact your friend back at town with it and check on his progress."
"Yes, thank you Ethram." Jordan offers in his normal solemn tone. "Don't stop for anything; just get home as quick and safe as you can. We'll pass your message on to your wife, don't worry."
Gerard walks over to Ethram. "Thanks and be careful on your way back. You said the atv should be ok but what about you? Do you have enough food and supplies for the trek back? Also is that pistol all you have to defend yourself if needed?"
"I should be back to town before lunch, so food won't be a problem." Ethram pats his pant leg where he stuffed the pistol last night. "This is my only weapon, but the ATV is fast enough that I can outrun any goblin patrols. Thank you again and good luck on your journey."

"So Daniel, do you think its still safe in that town we were going to travel to since we have had this unexpected surprise visitor?", as she looks down at the goblin who seems to be still mumbling up a storm.
"Jordan..Gerard what do you guys think about the town..I mean we can't stay here and we need to leave but any input on this matter sure would help as we start in on our travel. I do believe we have plenty of food and water for the journey as well and keeping this goblin in tack is all set."

"We might as well keep heading the way we had planned as we still need to find some answers hopefully. I'll make one last sweep to cover our tracks as best I can. So I guess our little friend is coming with us?" Gerard takes Zeke over by Anastasia. "Zeke here seems to have decided that I get to walk for awhile since he has taken a liking to you it seems." Gerard smiles.

Anastasia gets a big smile on her face as she truly does love Zeke and is always willing to take care of him and walk with him whenever she can.
"Oh that will be no problem there! I just adore Zeke and like any opportunity to walk him or do whatever it is thats needed whenever you say so..just let me know..but yes after looking at the path we're going to take, covering our tracks is a good idea and unfortunately yes we will have to take our little friend with us. We can't trust him so we need him to stay with us so we can keep an eye on him and I think Daniel has that under control ..isn't that right Daniel?"

Ethram climbs into his vehicle and after doing a few additional minor system checks it pushes the throttle lever forward and the ATV begins to roll forward with only a slight whine and hum from the vehicles electric motors.
"I agree as well." Jordan intones after Ethram has left the area. "We should proceed cautiously, but with all of the haste we can to Chisel Town. Hopefully with the help of the ATV we've gained some ground on our quarry and can recover the orb before the thief has a chance to sell it or move on. Since we don't know what he plans on doing with it or even if he knows what it is, it's going to make our jobs that much more difficult. We can't predict where he might go next. The town will be safer than travelling out here since there's a full garrison there. It would take a large contingent of the demon army to overrun it."
Jordan looks around to ensure that everyone is ready to go. "Since Daniel is occupied by the goblin and has volunteered to take up the rear guard, I'll run ahead a ways and be the forward scout."
Anastasia climbs into Zeke's saddle and gently urges him forward; she feels comfort and peace in the gentle rhythm of the horse's swaying.
Gerard starts to cover their tracks, to make it appear as if they never left the cave. He can't do anything about the damage Daniel did corralling the goblin, though. The best he can hope for is that all of the tracks from that will confuse anybody who might try to follow them and at least slow them down. Luckily Wormwood's surface is hard and tracks are few and far between. Once Gerard gets a few dozen feet from the cave entrance, he spots what appears to be scuffs in the surface of the ground next to one of the pillars. A closer inspection reveals boot prints leading to and from the spot consistent with the prints the group found at the scene of the priests murder. The tracks leading away from the spot appear to be headed back to the main trail following the path that Darl took.
{OOC: We are likely on a bit of a break here as Mark has notified me that he may be unable to post for Gerard for the next week. Jeremy will also be unlikely to post for awhile. Chris (Daniel) has also notified me that he is dropping from the game due to personal life conflicts. For those that can, please post when possible, though, and if there's something I can respond to I will. Please be patient because I won't be forcing the game along with two (possibly three) players out of action. Also, as you may have seen, I'm pushing to find us a couple more players as well. I really want someone to take over Jordan and I'd prefer it be someone that isn't already playing in the game. It can be hard enough finding time to post for one character.}

"Ethram please call us on the radio once you get back so we know you are safe. Safe travels and thanks for everything." Gerard watches the ATV head off in the distance. "Something interesting I found when trying to cover up our being here. I found boot prints that matched the ones at the murder scene. They also seem to be heading down the main trail in the same direction that Darl ventured. We best as always be alert as we go. So shall we then if everyone is ready to go?"

Anastasia is quick to take a quick last glance "Yes Ethram safe drive back and yes lets head outta here and be very cautious at that."

Their fair-wells complete, the group of would-be heroes proceed cautiously on down the beaten path. Vigilantly, they keep a watchful eye out for the murderer and assassin that killed Father Malaki. "It appears that Darl's circle of protection must have been more powerful than it first appeared. Why else would the beast that killed Father Malaki not do us in as well while we slept?" Jordan thinks out loud.
Anastasia sways gently as she rides upon Zeke. The powerful horse under her is lively this morning after another good nights rest.
The goblin that Daniel drags along behind them whimpers occasionally but does not attempt to escape. Not that it would do it any good anyway since Daniel can fly much faster than the goblin could run.

It is now well into late afternoon as the party marches along. Anastasia and Gerard have been taking turns riding, walking and jogging with Zeke. Daniel, growing bored and weary of dragging the hapless goblin along, eventually takes a length of angel hair rope and, with Gerard's permission, ties one end of the rope around the goblins neck and the other end to Zeke's saddle.
The road has been boring up to this point. They find occasional evidence Darl's passing among the many signs of the villagers trek. The group slows as it comes across a trail leading off the main path. Gerard finds marks of a small wagon's passing marring the ground. The width could be the same as that of the wagon from the group they are trying to track down. It is difficult to tell, but it appears that the wagon went up the path and returned.

Gerard tells the group what he has found. "I guess the question is do we stay on the main trail or hope this was the same wagon and head up this way to see where it might have gone? We should also start thinking about finding a place for the night that can also be defended if needed. Opinions? Ideas?" While Gerard waits to hear what the others think he will look over Zeke and make sure he is well.
