Rifts - DMH - Camp Union
Re: Rifts - DMH - Camp Union
Megana begins to think on what they could trade for all this as Vi turns to face the guards, "What do we have for trade? We are here for supplies. I don't think we got anything to spare for trade."
Megana begins to try create an inventory of what she has in her pack; what she can remember is:
[OOC: Perfect roll! I didn't add her clothes, she needs those.
Feather
Black slacks and shirt for nighttime operations
Fancy Dress Gown
Sunglasses
Utility Belt
Backpack
Sleeping bag
Extra burlap sack
Gas mask and air filter
NG-S2 Survival Pack (see mercenaries page 101)
Robot Medical Kit (see rifts main book)
IRMSS Kit (Stands for Internal Robot Medical Support System)
Infrared Distancing Binoculars
5 sets of handcuffs
50' of rope
1st place horse racing trophy
MP-10 Caseless Pistol
Extra 100 ramjet rounds for the MP-10
Plastic Man Body armor
220k credits <--- hehe they might actually use the money (enough to buy a better body armor or laser rifle or two) ]
Dusty continues, "As I said, I have money to buy fuel."
"Universal, Coalition or some of those custom western currencies?" One of the guards asks.
"All three. But I don't have an incredible amount, but it should be enough to buy us a full tank in any territory... I hope..." Dusty frowns, with a concerned look that screams, oO(These asses may try and extort us on the gas)Oo
"The other option is some labor around town, we could use the help. Many of our citizens are getting too old." Another guard pleasantly adds.

Megana leans toward Dusty and lowers her voice. “I’ve got credits on my card. I’m just not sure how much we’ll need… or how much I actually have.”
A nearby guard overhears and shakes his head. “Ma’am, we don’t have any card readers in town.”
Vi mutters under her breath, “How convenient…” earning a sharp look from Dusty.
The lead guard steps forward, trying to smooth things over. “Look, we can offer you a warm place to sleep tonight. Comfortable beds, too. Tomorrow, we’ll find some chores that our people can’t manage in this weather. If we strike a deal, I’m sure the mayor will agree to supply your fuel.”
He continues, “Food-wise, we’ve got enough to last the winter. But with the local menace causing trouble, hunting’s gotten risky. If you help us deal with it, we can reward you three with a week’s worth of provisions.”
Dusty nods once. “We’ve got a horse to feed as well.”
The guard perks up. “Is it for trade?”
“’Fraid not.”
“That’s a shame. We’re down to about a dozen horses. It’ll take years to rebuild our herd.”
“Still not for trade,” Dusty says firmly. Then, “What kind of ‘menace’ are we talking about?”
The guard’s expression tightens. “A dog boy. Showed up recently and raided our root cellars. He’s teamed up with a wolfpack. Smart, armed, and knows the land as well as we do. Suppose he's hungry and already ran off all the game.”
Dusty exchanges a look with Vi and Megana with equal part annoyance mixed with resignation. “That damned mutt. Here we go again…” The guards stare at him, startled by the familiarity in his tone.

Vi feeling even more annoyed now by the guards, begins to look around the town,"So let me get this straight, its either help around town or go dogboy hunting ??"
Re: Rifts - DMH - Camp Union
Megana’s patience snaps like a frozen branch. “Gods damn it! He’s back again? I swear, I’m gonna put that mutt down once and for all,” she growls, shoulders tense and ready for a fight.
Vi, already irritated with the guards, scans the town instead. It’s surprisingly calm, with quiet streets, drifting snow, the kind of stillness that makes her second‑guess the chaos they’ve been dragged into. She weighs her options with a sigh. “So let me get this straight. We either help around town… or go dog‑boy hunting?”
The lead guard nods. “That’s about the size of it. Or you can trade, if you’ve got something useful. No worries on fuel. We make our own and keep it from going stale.”
“Ethanol?” Dusty asks.
“Yep. Works the same, just doesn’t burn as hot as gasoline.”
Dusty rubs his forehead. “Which means we lose power since the piston rings won’t expand as much. You got actual gasoline?”
The guard’s shoulders slump. “We do… but it’s expensive.”
“Figured you’d say that.” Dusty exhales, defeated, and starts toward town with his arms dropping to his sides. “Show us where we’re staying. I’ll talk with the girls about what we can trade.”
The guards guide them to a large, well‑kept house. They unlock the double doors and usher the trio inside. Their posture relaxes; rifles settle against their shoulders. The lead guard removes his helmet, revealing a handsome, blue‑eyed young man with long blond hair and close in age to Vi and Megana.
Inside, the air is warmer than outside, though still crisp. The wooden floors and walls are sturdy, old, and clean, carrying the faint scent of seasoned timber. The guard smiles and gestures broadly. “Welcome to Alexandeer. I’m Roger Iverson, lead patrol ranger. We heard you coming from miles off.”
He crosses to the brick fireplace, pulls out an old flint‑lock lighter, and strikes it against a bundle of papers. Flames catch instantly, spreading warmth and a soft amber glow through the living and dining room. The dining room holds a long wooden table built for a family of ten. At its center sits a pitcher and bowl of clean water. A blue tablecloth drapes over the surface, with plates set upside down and silverware wrapped neatly in matching cloth napkins.
A massive bearskin rug sprawls across the living room floor. Four rocking chairs sit in each corner like quiet sentinels. An exercise bike stands in front of a television, oddly modern against the rustic backdrop. Roger points at it. “If you want to watch TV, someone’s gotta pedal to generate power for the set and the VDP. Otherwise, you can grab some books from the shops tomorrow.”
He signals the other guards to leave, then turns back with a polite nod. “Hope the accommodations are good enough for tonight. I’d suggest staying inside until morning. When the wind kicks up, visibility drops so low you can get lost fifty feet from town. We’ve lost people that way… if Fido doesn’t get you first.”

Re: Rifts - DMH - Camp Union
Vi walks into the lodge , feeling the warmth and seeing the fireplace with the fire going , and the table set and the bear skin rug on the floor ," ain't this cozy. Dusty so we got two choices , chores around town or wolf hunting? The major question is , is this the same dogboy we encountered before or is this a different one?"
Re: Rifts - DMH - Camp Union
Megana goes and sit near the fire to warm up as she listens on..her mind wonders thinking about what they can trade or work for.
Re: Rifts - DMH - Camp Union
Vi strolls into the lodge like she owns the place, immediately soaking up the warmth. The fireplace crackles, the table’s set, and there’s a bear‑skin rug on the floor that looks like it lost a bar fight with a taxidermist. She turns and smirks, “Ain’t this cozy?” she says, hands on hips. “Dusty, we got two choices: chores around town… or wolf hunting. The real mystery is if we're dealing with the same dogboy as before, or did we unlock a new level of furry menace?”
Dusty shrugs so hard his shoulders practically migrate north. “Let’s see… good honest work, or risking our lives for a tank of fuel. Real tough one. I vote chores.”
Megana drifts toward the fire like a moth with taxes to avoid, settling in and letting the heat thaw her brain. She listens, already mentally bartering everything they own for something shiny.
Roger leans back, arms crossed, looking way too confident for someone who once lost a fight with a pantry door. “Work would be nice,” he says, “but eliminating Fido would be much better. I bet the mayor would toss in extra supplies for that one.” He says it like he’s pitching a business plan: Step 1: Remove dogboy. Step 2: Profit.
