Darl also gets restless, his calm demeaner starting to get ruffled by the recent actions and complete lack of organization being demonstrated by the group.
"Okay ... so where did you all meet these folks? They may have said they were headed towards Chisel Town, but we can't trust their word. We need to find the location you met them, and begin tracking from there. So who was it that met them, and please direct Ethram as to how we can find where that occurred."
"We're wasting yet more time, and the longer we sit still, the easier it will be for the shade (or anyone else) to catch up to us and follow."

The miles pass by as the group trundles, cantors and flies along. When Gerard slows the horse to a walk, the group finds time to talk among themselves.
Curious about their destination, Anastasia asks " By the way, what is this town all about?"
Gerard collects his thoughts momentarily before responding "Hammer Town and Chisel Town lie about 50 miles apart on the other side of the Resin Mountains. Luckily for us, they are at the edge of the mountains so that we can follow this road without having to traverse the passes. We'll come to Chisel Town first. It's a manufacturing town that makes some really nice weapons and armor in addition to many other fine goods. It's a good place to resupply. Hammer Town is further around the skirt of the range. They cut and dig the chunks of resin from the mountains and supply it to Chisel Town in the form of raw ore. They do make some of their own armor, but not nearly as fancy as the stuff coming out of Chisel Town."
As Gerard pauses to wet his throat, Jordan picks up where Gerard left off. "Both towns are about the same size...probably about 10,000 people in each one. Separating the two is a Cathedral garrison, commonly referred to as Chisel Town Garrison or just plain Garrison. It provides protection for the two towns in exchange for weapons and armor. The Cathedral has a vested interest in the area since that's where they get the bulk of the armor and weapons to supply the armies."
During the points when Zeke has to slow to a walk, the company finds the pace slow enough that they can get out for a little bit to stretch their legs. Zeke is holding up quite well under the strain of the long trek. A rare night spent in a stable seems to have lifted his spirits and given him renewed energy. As promised, Gerard lets Anastasia walk Zeke during some of these slower periods while he either walks beside them or takes a rest in the ATV. Zeke seems to have taken well to Anastasia. For that matter, it seems like most people take well to her.
Daniel spends his time flitting back and forth, sometimes ahead of the group, sometimes to the side or behind. He occasionally spots what could possibly be activity off in the far distance in one direction or another. Far enough away as to not cause any concern and not anything that appears to be following the group.
During one of the early slow times Darl asks "Okay ... so where did you all meet these folks? They may have said they were headed towards Chisel Town, but we can't trust their word. We need to find the location you met them, and begin tracking from there. So who was it that met them? Please direct Ethram as to how we can find where that occurred."
Gerard reminds Darl that he was the one that had the run in and proceeds to direct Ethram on about how far they need to go. The party continues on the same smooth road for hours, passing no side roads. Approaching midday, Gerard lets the group know that they are near the spot where he had his run in with the group that attacked him led by the man named Harvey. Ethram brings the ATV to a halt to await further instructions.
Daniel sees the rest of the group come to a halt below him. He's been flying for a long time and is starting to feel a bit of fatigue setting in...especially given his less than full night of sleep the night before.

Daniel flies down and lands besides them , " i have an idea for me to listen to all you and scout out ahead . "
Daniel steps back from everyone , slowly begins to seperate into what appears to be bats ..
some of the bats will sit on the atv listening to the group and the other will fly out still keeping an eye out , looking for signs of anyone closing in on them or enemies .

"This is the spot here. I didn't really run into anyone on the road up until this point where I met the group fleeing the town. As far as I know, this is really the only road around so if you all agree, we should make our way carefully on to the town." Gerard will also be on alert for anything that looks out of place as we progress along the road.

Darl sits quietly and does nothing, happy to let this band of misfits show some initiative of their own instead of spoonfeeding them their next plan of action. Internally, he reflects on the group's complete lack of cohesion, their missing sense of unified purpose, the repeated demonstrations of machoism and bravado for no apparent reasons, and their apparent inability to hold a conversation unless he starts it. 'Oh well,' he thinks to himself. 'I monopolized things for long enough back in the village ... let's see what this rag-tag band can do when left to its own devices.'

OOC - Daniel: How long do you plan to maintain the swarm spell and how far out are the bats to range?
IC - All: The trail, almost a road, is smooth and well used. What tracks remain in the surface show the passage of many feet in the past day. Off to the side of the trail are the scuff marks made by Zeke, Gerard's horse, during the struggle with the men that the group now hunts.
Dozens of bats are flitting around the area and Daniel-or the disturbing shape that he has recently been sporting-is no longer to be seen. Daniel, in his bat form, sees nothing unusual in the area.
Jordan gets out of the vehicle and examines the ground for a few moments before returning to the ATV silently.
Ethram takes the opportunity to relieve himself behind a nearby pillar before rummaging throught the packs in the back of the vehicle and producing a pack containing food and water. He begins to get the food out and then, after having glanced at Anastasia, decides to use a bit of the water to wash his hands. He shares the food with anyone interested explaining that he brought enough supplies for everyone for a few meals.
After having consumed the tasty meal of some sort of meat and crackers with a paste-like spread and then water to wash it all down, the group is ready to continue their treck. Having not heard any discenting votes, he pushes the throttle lever forward and continues on down the road.
The warm sun is shining down from directly overhead as they get underway. It's not unpleasantly hot, but it is becoming a beautiful warm day.

Anastasia enjoyed her walk with Zeke and is looking forward to another possible stroll with Zeke as it was realaxing and enjoyable and good to not be so cramped up for a short time.
As Anastasia looks at Daniel in his transformation and what one of his powers is, she wonders to herself what other little things he can do, little but yet maybe powerful and helpful to the group. It seems he has turned out to be a real asset to the group even tho he has alot of roughness and seeemingly rudeness at times...but maybe thats just the way he is or has to be.
Anastasia looks at Ethram watching carefully what he does, "Thank you for the food and water. I'm sure we all needed it by now..it was very refreshing so we can move on."
Anastasia looks over to Jordan with a smile as she too sees things are going good at the moment.

"Yes it is a really nice day. Thanks as well Ethram for the food and water as it's nice not having to forage here and there for a change." Gerard smiles. "I think Zeke has taken a liking to you Anastasia please let me know whenever you would like to get out of that cramped vehicle. I don't mind a walk or jog for a bit here and there. Wow bats who would of thought...then again who knows what you end up seeing and experiencing in this place." Gerard will continue to keep an eye out for anything out of place or what might end up as any kind of trouble.

As the bats seperate out. 6 of them will stay with the group and the others will spread out and do recon work up to 1/2 mile up the road.

Anastasia smiles, "Well I just might take you up on that offer. It certainly will be refreshing indeed."
As she looks around at the bats she notices how they seem to be forming ..some staying with the group others flying off in different directions but still close by..this is quite interesting seeing as Anastsaias not to fond of the creatures but they are something from Daniel and must be some kind of protection. She watches them in facination as shes never seen anything like this before. Just out of curiosity since this is quite her character and sometimes gets her in trouble, she reaches out to touch one just to see what happens.
