Reggie adjusts his attention to the woman, "Hello, we met just before you passed out, so you may not remember me. The doc says you're really dehydrated, would you like some water?" He lifts the bottle of water into her line of sight.

She nods, attempting to reach for the bottle, only for her restraints to catch her arms. Panic immediately sets in as she screams, "What is this?"

OOC: Cut out the second part of your post since this seems to be the center of her attention.

OOC: makes sense

IC:
"Easy lady. it's just a precaution. We had no way of knowing how lucid you were gonna be when you woke up. The Sheriff will be here soon. He'll have a few questions for you." Reggie pauses, then continues, "Actually, how are you feeling? if you're in any pain, let me know and we can call in the doctor."

"Easy lady. it's just a precaution. We had no way of knowing how lucid you were gonna be when you woke up. The Sheriff will be here soon. He'll have a few questions for you." Reggie pauses, then continues, "Actually, how are you feeling? if you're in any pain, let me know and we can call in the doctor."

“I’m feeling trapped!” she barks, jerking against the restraints. “Let me go!”

Before Reggie can answer, Dr. Anderson strides in, coat flaring behind him. He lifts both hands, trying to settle the air in the room. “Ma’am, please. With the influx of d‑bees and other… incidents, we’ve had to be careful.” His gaze locks onto hers for what seems too long, too intent. “Start simple. Your name. Where you’re from.”

Her eyes are unnaturally green, almost luminous as they stop flickering. Her breathing steadies. “Drive City,” she murmurs. “My name is Nomea Dami.”

“Good,” the doctor says, though his voice carries a tremor. “Now… what happened to you? You’re covered in blood, but you barely have a scratch.”

Nova glances at Reggie, bewildered, as if searching his face for an answer she can’t find.

“There was an attack,” Nomea whispers. “These men drove in and just… started killing people.” Her voice cracks. “My boyfriend…” She stares down at the gore smeared across her clothes and begins crying again.

“Alright,” Dr. Anderson says softly, reaching for the restraints. “I’m going to take these off. Tell me what you’d like for lunch.”

“I’m not hungry.” Her fingers curl into a fist the moment her hand is freed. She snatches the water bottle, twists the cap off with one hand, and gulps it so fast she nearly chokes.

Nova finally speaks, her tone sharp enough to cut the room in half. “How many attackers?”

Nomea freezes. Her eyes slowly rise to Nova’s face. Something like recognition flickers there… or fear. “At least two dozen,” she says at last. “Maz said it was the Pecos Raiders. I ran and didn’t stop to count.”

Dr. Anderson exhales, long and weary, then turns to Reggie and Nova. “Thank you for the assist, deputy. You can stay… or you can go.” His voice drops, barely above a whisper. “Your call.”

Reggie grabs a note pad and pen and starts writing down what she says. If she asks, he'll say that this way the sheriff won't need to ask her as many questions.

name: Nomea Dami
from Drive City
attackers was nominally ID'd as Pecos Raiders, at least 2 dozen strong
boyfriend (deceased?): Maz(?)

He mentally notes that the name she's given is quite different from the ID he had found on her (Patricia Jeunet), but he'll leave that to his father to bring up or not.

"Did you walk all the way here? You must have been out there in the wilderness a while."

If she empties the bottle, Reggie will ask Nova to refill it for her.

"Did you walk all the way here? You must have been out there in the wilderness a while."

She chokes the entire bottle down, almost burping it all back up. Reg hands Nova the bottle to go refill. She clears her throat once her coughing fit is over, "I got a ride, but the riders caught up... we crashed... The driver didn't make it. I think they shot him, but I was knocked out. I walked the rest of the way. I don't remember much of the last several miles. I just wanted to live."

Nova returns, quietly handing her the water. Nomae, or Patricia, whoever she is, seems to stare at Nova for another long moment. "Where am I?"

Suddenly, from outside, Reggie hears three distinctly loud rifle shots from outside. Dr Anderson, Nomae and Nova all three exchange concerned looks.

Reggie opens his mouth to answer her question when the sound of weapons fire is heard. His head snaps around towards the front of the clinic.

"Stay here," he says as he drops the pen and paper on a table and pulls on his helmet, then he hurries towards the front door, pulling his pulse rifle off his back.

Once he reaches the door he'll peek out thru the windows trying to spot the shooter. If he can't see anything, he'll ease open the door to get a better look around. Once he spots his dad and the others, seemingly relaxed, he'll step out with the rifle in his hands but aimed downward, before walking over to the group.

"Heard some gunfire, sheriff."

OOC: Nevermind, that didn't last long. The following is from that thread.
*****************************

Sara’s grin blooms behind her faceplate, sharp and private, the kind a person wears when the adrenaline is finally ebbing and the world snaps back into focus. She doesn’t show off often, but when a plan lands exactly the way she intended, it hits her like the clean recoil of a perfect shot. Her breathing steadies. Her tone evens out. She tilts her head toward Al, voice low and certain.

“Training ends when you take your last breath.”

"Right, my grandpappy used to say that too. Always some space for perfection..." Al smirks like he's heard the funniest joke, but can't laugh, like a grade school boy hearing a fart in classroom during quiet time.

"Something funny, Al?" Hank asks.

"Nope!" Al snickers, trying to hold his breath.

Sara strides to her hover-bike, boots crunching over gravel, and runs a practiced hand along its frame. The machine hums faintly beneath her touch, weapons latched, packs secured, every compartment locked down with military precision. She pats the side panel like it’s a loyal steed. “Now,” she says, eyes gleaming behind mirrored transparent alloy, “Where are these pesky raiders? I could use a little more training.”

The clinic door creaks open. A young deputy steps out slowly, armor plates catching the light. His Wilk’s 457 pulse rifle stays angled toward the ground, but his posture screams ready to snap upward at a moment’s notice. Dark hair, tense jaw, gray eyes flicking between Sara and the sheriff.

“Heard gunfire, sheriff,” he comments, voice tight.

Hank nods, calm but still a little pale. “It’s alright, Reggie. I think we’ve got ourselves a bandit hunter we can employ.”

He turns back to Sara... a woman in mirrored armor that looks expensive enough to bankrupt a small town, with a few grenades clipped neatly across her chest. A rifle tucked under one arm, another slung across her back. And beside her, the sleekest hovercycle he’s ever laid eyes on, complete with a holstered long‑gun mounted beside the seat like it’s waiting for its turn to impress.

“Ma’am,” Hank says, clearing his throat, “last reports say the raiders are pillaging Drive City. ’Bout a two‑hour ride southwest on that… contraption of yours. Haven’t been there in years, but it’s a small place. We’ve had refugees all day. We thought you were one of them… or a raider. Sorry for the misunderstanding.”

"After the recent activities you have had, I would be just as cautious." She mounts her bike with practiced ease and revs the engine. As she turns her bike to head out of town, she turns and says "I wont ever apologize for protecting others!" and while she speeds off the wind will carry a simple message "See you soon!"

Reggie stows his rifle as he watches the shiny armoured woman fly off on her impressive looking jetbike. Presumably she's good if she can afford that kind of gear. Al looks amused by something, Karen just looks grumpy.

"Our mystery woman is awake. Nova's inside keeping an eye on her. I figured you'd like to talk to her soon as possible," he says to his dad.

Then he nods to the other two and heads into the clinic to reassure those inside. "Just a newcomer showing off by shooting a vulture," he'll tell them.
