While the audio chaos is doing its job. Dane keeps his expression carefully neutral, which is harder than it sounds with that coming out of the shop speakers. He drifts a half-step closer to the counter again, like he's just another bystander rubbernecking at the disaster.

He can feel the mental fatigue sitting behind his eyes like a slow headache, heavier than he expected. He hadn't used the ability long enough before to know what the ceiling felt like. Now he does. He pushes back in anyway. oO( Find it. Whatever it was, find it. )Oo

OOC: Ability lasts 10 minutes + 2/lvl, so hopefully he still has plenty of time to try to at least make an attempt to find what he saw previously.

Files rapidly flip by in front of his mental cyber images. Then he finds it. A message board. One thread titled, "Teenage nuisance CHEAP. No questions." He opens it. "We made a mistake. Attractive teenage girl needing rehomed. 1000 credits OBO, no questions asked." Posted to some board with no links in or out.

Meanwhile, a commotion upstairs is heard, "Who the F(&* are you?"

"Hands where I can see them!" he hears his dad shout.

Joe draws his service weapon and levels it at the guy behind the counter, "Stop what you're doing. Reach for the ceilin' and mosey out from behind the counter! Dane, you can go back to the truck now."

As he exits, Joe has the guy walking out from behind the counter, then on his knees. As he goes to handcuff the guy, the perp spins around and begins wrestling for Joe's gun.

Dane quickly assesses the situation. His mind becomes focused and sharp the moment there's a problem to analyze and solve. "Dad!" he shouts toward the stairs. "Joe's in trouble!" He quickly looks around for a weapon or something with enough weight to be useful as a club. One part of his mind is already tracking the angle of the gun, trying to stay out of its line of fire in case it goes off.

Dane quickly assesses the situation. His mind becomes focused and sharp the moment there's a problem to analyze and solve. "Dad!" he shouts toward the stairs. "Joe's in trouble!" He quickly looks around for a weapon or something with enough weight to be useful as a club. One part of his mind is already tracking the angle of the gun, trying to stay out of its line of fire in case it goes off.

He spots a hammer behind the counter and grabs it as the guy headbutts Joe, causing him to reel and fall backwards. The guy now has the gun as Dane is just inside striking distance.

Dane tries not to let himself think too hard about it what he's about to do as he brings the hammer around flat-side first, aiming for the side of the man's head. Not the claw and not the face. He wants him down, not dead. Dead men don't answer questions, and there are a lot of questions that need answering. Before the man can turn and fire on Dane, Joe heel stomps at the guy's knee; the pain distracting the man just long enough for Dane to desperately smack the flat of the hammer across the man's gun arm. (OOC: sorry low roll, but high enough to hit) Yet, he manages to maintain a grip on the gun. Joe begins to stand as Dane whiffs, forcing the man to backpedal. He gives the man no quarter as he continues swinging over and over, yet missing, forcing the man to almost turn and run. Suddenly, the man disappears in a sprawl of arms and legs, underneath the sheriff, as the gun slides across the floor.

"Get it!" Joe shouts.

Dane is only a fraction of a second behind Joe's shout. He breaks off and goes after the gun, scooping it off the floor and dropping the hammer at his feet in the same motion. "Hey!" His voice comes out louder than he intended. "Do you feel lucky?" oO( I can't believe I just said that. )Oo

Joe, out of revenge, tries to headbutt the guy, only to strike the hard floor with his forehead. The guy rapidly scrambles out from under him. He slowly raises his hands as he stands, noticing the gun.

"Easy kid." he continues to move away from the sheriff, who's recovering from a possible self-inflicted concussion, "What's this all about?"
