Rifts - DMH - Journey to Rifle Ridge
Re: Rifts - DMH - Journey to Rifle Ridge
"It's okay, I actually got some traveling expenses paid for on this gig. Who wants to help pick out a trailer with me?" Frank asks.
"Why don't we just drive over there?" Steve answers, "We could load the stuff into it as we hook it up."
"Also what are we thinking covered trailer or just a flat bed? I'm personally thinking covered but also not really sure what options they'll have." Frank rambles off, "Oh hey Sam, do you need anything for the trip I'm thinking warm clothes. Damn I got so caught up with kitchen supplies I forgot to prepare for everything else. SON OF A BITCH! Sorry I may have been a little tunnel-visioned guys." Frank facepalms.
"Covered," Sam replies, "And I forgot gloves and a hat too!"
Steve laughs, "I'm good," as he shows off his spare stocking cap, battery heated gloves and padded bodysuit.
Johnny leans in, whispering to Frank, "A covered, lockable trailer will only cost 40 credits for a week, unless you break it, then it's more. How much did he give you?"

Re: Rifts - DMH - Journey to Rifle Ridge
"Enough to get everything and everyone there and back. Plus meals and mileage. So, around six thousand. With the promise of good tips from the job." Frank says dismissively while getting in the vehicle to drive over. "These guys heard about our work and were very persuasive on getting us to them for the job. Kinda looking forward to the trip. It'll be nice to get my skills better known places so that I can really make the big bucks." He says with a devious smile.
Re: Rifts - DMH - Journey to Rifle Ridge
Lysanthra looks at Johnny and smiles. "This should be fun and exciting," she answers. She is definitely looking forward to this trip. For the first time in a while she feels good about the future. Her heart is thumping with excitement. It was nice to see Ingrid again before leaving too. Liz is glad everything worked out for her friend and she looked happy. She is also hoping to work on more friendships in her life. She still doesn't trust many people but she's learning to let some people in a little at a time.

Frank dismissively says, while getting in the vehicle to drive over, "These guys heard about our work and were very persuasive on getting us for the job. Kinda looking forward to the trip. It'll be nice to get my skills better known places so that I can really make the big bucks." The grin he flashes is just shy of villainous.
Lysanthra beams at Johnny. “This is going to be fun. And exciting.” She means it. For the first time in ages, the future doesn’t feel like a trap; it feels wide open. Her heart thumps with anticipation. Seeing Ingrid before leaving helps too; the woman looks genuinely happy, and that warms her more than she expected. Maybe she can build more friendships like that. Carefully. Slowly. One person at a time.
As the group loads into the ATV, Sam hops onto Steve’s bike. Ingrid jogs up, cheeks pink from the cold, and hands Liz a small wrapped present topped with a shiny red bow. “Be safe, Liz. I miss you.” She gives a sad little smile before retreating back to the glass shop to thaw out.
The convoy rolls into Swenson’s Machines' parking lot. Marty bursts out the front door with arms spread wide, grinning like he’s greeting long‑lost relatives. “I was wondering if you guys would actually show!” He eyes the mountain of luggage. “Need a trailer?”
OOC2: Lemme know if I'm getting ahead of myself.
Frank hands over the week‑long coupon and explains the trip will take two. Marty does some lightning‑fast math, then raises a finger. “Alright, twenty‑five credits plus… distance, danger… insurance… call it two hundred more. If you lose the thing, I’ll charge extra, but hey, I trust you boys.” Frank pays up. Marty, Johnny, Sam, and Steve hand tow an enormous box trailer and hitch it on. Frank and Brad immediately start loading the non‑medical supplies. The trailer even has a heating tube to keep anything delicate from freezing.
Maya keeps her camera and notepad close. Johnny, now wearing his blindingly yellow‑and‑red plastic armor, digs into a sack of snacks. Sam politely sits in the clinic bay to give everyone else room. Lysanthra notices the temperature control and silently thanks the gods as her herbs and powders would’ve been ruined otherwise.
Steve rolls up, flips his faceplate, and grins at Johnny. “Hey! Since you’re wearing that toy armor, let Sam sit up front so he can buckle in. Think, genius.” Johnny scowls but shuffles back. Sam thanks him and settles between Liz and Maya. As soon as the buckle clicks, Steve hollers, “Everyone ready? Let’s blaze trails and chase tails!”

"I think I'm ready except need to grab a new coat and gloves just in case I want an extra warm ones. I've heard stories about how cold it gets there. Also what kind of motor does this beast have gas or electric? If its gas I have a coupon for that too." Frank says playfully before doing one last check with everyone to triple check. "Would really suck if we forget something we need or want."

Brad waves as Dane hurries off on his own job. "Catch ya when we get back," he calls.
"Well if someone is going to be riding in the trailer, enclosed is definitely better. Plus it'll protect whatever we load into it from rain or snow or such. I've got a couple folding chairs in my storage, I use them for when relatives have to wait on a treatment or surgery."
As he ponders the trailer situation, He adds "whoever's in the the trailer is gonna need warm clothing, it won't be heated except by body heat, though at least they'll be out of the wind. It'll probably pretty boring too."
"Or we can put more stuff in the trailer and someone can just sit on the floor of Mountaineer, I guess..."

OOC: Adding Brad's post to the appropriate spots. Think of the prior as a recap...
Brad waves as Dane hurries off on his own job. "Catch ya when we get back," he calls.
"Tell us how it goes when we get back!" Maya adds. Sam looks as though he wants to ask Dane something, but decides against it.

Also what kind of motor does this beast have gas or electric? If its gas I have a coupon for that too." Frank playfully says before doing one last check with everyone to triple check. "Would really suck if we forget something we need or want."
Frank purchases five gallon cans of gas, which they store in the trailer. It only cost 15 credits.
"The market and blacksmithing has really nice leather gloves. The ranchers buy them out at the beginning of the cold season, but they should be restocked by now!" Johnny smiles.
With that, the two vehicles drive up the street to the market and blacksmith's, where Ethan and Esther are already outside waving, faint smiles on their face. As everyone piles in to select their warm gear, everyone notices how warm they feel to be thought of, especially since Vi, their daughter, went missing.
Upon looking through winter apparel, they find gloves of various sizes and utility. The cost ranges are as such:
Stocking Cap: 1 credit
Fur hat with ear flaps: 5 credits
Cowboy hat: 10 credits
Heavy work gloves: 5 credits
Fine craftsman ship gloves: 5 credits
Wool gloves: 2 credits
Mittens: 1 credit
Snow Boots: 10 credits
Work boots: 8 credits
Regular hiking shoes: 5 credits
Fur winter coat: 15 credits
Wool Coat: 12 credits
Leather Duster: 20 credits
Leather vest: 8 credits
Johnny promptly buys a stocking cap, wool gloves with mittens and then taps Frank, "Umm, can you help me cover the winter coat? I'm a few credits short," Frank notices that he's wearing the same torn and holy winter boots that he's worn for years.
"You really need that with the armor?" Steve laughs as he's buying up bags of trail mix and some of Frank's infamous bottled strawberry sodas.
"What if someone pops a hole in it?" Johnny returns. Steve shrugs as a reply.
Sam and Maya quickly buy some warm winter attire as the two go through. As everyone's waiting, Ethan leans in to Frank and Brad, "Hey, keep an eye out for Violet, just in case. I know she's still alive. I can feel it."
OOC: Alright, Brad, Liz and Frank. Pick out what you plan to buy.

Re: Rifts - DMH - Journey to Rifle Ridge
Frank looks everything over before getting two of the following stocking cap, fur hat w/ear flap, heavy work gloves, fine craftsman ship gloves, mittens, snow boots, fur winter coats, leather dusters and vests appropriately sized for Sam and himself. Then turns to Johnny, "Yea I can help get you a coat. Is that all you want/need there buddy ol pal." He says while thinking what else would be useful for the trip. "Hey what do we have to eat on the way? Because if we only have rations....I rly love that prize basket I got." He says with a smile like he just had an epiphany. "I have a coupon for a bunch of prime rib that I can cook when we stop from the butchers." Frank pulls out his prized coupons and holds them like golem held the 'one' ring while smiling.
Re: Rifts - DMH - Journey to Rifle Ridge
Brad thanks Frank for the gas. "My Mountaineer has a pretty big tank but nothing wrong with some for emergencies."
Looking through the selection Brad chooses a fur hat with ear flaps, fine craftman ship gloves, wool mittens (to go over the gloves if needed), snow boots, and a fur winter coat. ($36) He also a 6-pack of soda bottles.
"Uh, Frank, keep in mind that I don't have an oven or microwave in the truck. Unless you plan to cook that meat over a fire or unpack your cooking gear when we camp for the night, it may be better to save that coupon for later."
"Anyone else in need of something?", he asks the group, "I can cover a few IOUs."

Re: Rifts - DMH - Journey to Rifle Ridge
"If I get a dutch oven I can cook just about anything over a fire. Might be my favorite thing about it. I see your point though. I'll get easier food to campfire cook so to speak. I should make sure I have an iron skillet." Frank starts to think about anything else he might need for the trip. Then he grabs 40 credits worth of nonalcoholic beverages for the trip. "Don't worry these drinks are for everyone. Now where are some sausages or brats to cook on the way. Some freshly cooked protein taste way better than travel rations. Plus in this weather making a nice hearty stew might be better." Frank precedes to get more food supplies. (Veggies, some stew meat, bacon, eggs, a couple of loads of bread few sticks of butter, dutch oven and iron skillet if needed.....enough to cook food for everyone traveling for the trip up there.)
