Rifts Dead Man's Hand - Festival Day - Bottoms Up

Frank notices Megana still at the fryer as Sam joins her, offering to take over if she wants to go watch the fight. Megana notices that Frank is all over the place, working the grill and the bar, making drinks. Steve and Emily have come in and sat at the bar. Emily's being obnoxiously loud; as usual. Johnny's taken over part of the grill as Felix takes over the rest.

"Hey, Johnny" Frank bellows just loud enough to get his attention; moving closer as to be heard over the crowd. "Those will burn in the center. Try to scoot them out to the side where there's less heat. It gives the cheese time to melt without over toasting the bread." Frank returns to the bar and begins making drink orders. Looking at Emily and Steve. "Well, I'm not fancy with tricks or anything, but you'll enjoy the drink you get." Frank starts with the first order and goes as fast as he can without dropping anything. Getting the drinks out with practiced efficiency.

Upon glancing back, Johnny listened. Disaster averted.

Steve grins, "I like the sound of that. I'll have some fermented potato drink mixed with cherry flavoring and a touch of licorice ferment," he adds, hoping that Frank catches on that he's trying to order without actually stating the name of any hard beverage. "I tip well."

Sam notices Steve, "What're you two doing?"

"Umm, just thirsty. This guy's gonna make me something I haven't tried yet." He remembers something, "I'll pay double if he only puts three chunks of ice in it."

Megana side-hugs Sam back, "You're good, Sam. Glad you joined me and nah, not interested in the fight, but if you wanna stay and help, I'd love that," her voice possesses a sweet, happy tone that's normally reserved for her close friends and family.

Sam barely listens to Steve's answer as he melts into Megana's hug, thoroughly enjoying her hug. "If you need anything, then I'm your guy."

Felix glances over at him, "She needs to not be distracted, actually. You could sit at the bar, if you can find an empty stool."

Sam sighs, wandering back in front of the bar.

Steve laughs, "Aww, that sucks, dude."

"And what's pipsqueak still doing with you?" Sam fires back.

"He invited me," Emily answers as Steve flashes her a look that screams, 'The hell I did...'

Meanwhile, Frank easily keeps up with the rush, catching up as he slides drinks and takes credits. Eventually a group arrives insisting on trading a crate of zucchini for three buckets of beer. Frank already knows that he needs either his mom or dad to confirm the trade. This would give him a chance to make Steve's drink.

Megana sighs but she keeps working hard it had felt nice to have Sam by her side as she cooked but she understood why Felix had sent him away. She keeps cooking and listening for anything off.

Megana sighs, continuing to work hard. She truly enjoys having Sam by her side but understands why Felix had to send him away. He seems more focused on Steve and Emily's activities than her, but it's okay. He originally came here to spend time with her, even if it's from the other side of the bar.

More unusual commotion can be heard outside as Frank, Megana and the rest of the bar hear someone shout, "Violet Trent is a deebee!"

Megana calls out "Hey Frank what the hell are they fricken yelling about Vi?!" She is concerned about the yelling.

Frank finds his dad to approve the trade. Then takes the opportunity to make the mixed drink for Steve. Looking over at Meg he says, "Someone either said that she's a DB or that she's fighting a DB. Hard to tell with the noise but both dont sound very good. I'm going to check really quick." He looks around to see what's going on inside, then moves to the door to see what's going on outside.

Megana calls out, "Hey Frank, what the hell are they fricken yelling about Vi?"

Frank finds his dad to approve the trade. His dad just nods, approving. Then seems to be paying attention outside of the bar. There is a crowd amassing outside of the school.

Frank takes the opportunity to make the mixed drink for Steve. Steve nods, sliding over ten credits (the drink only costs 3 credits) and quickly moves away from the bar to avoid Frank's parents noticing. Emily is hot on his heels, asking for a sip.

Looking over at Meg, Frank replies, "Someone either said that she's a DB or that she's fighting a DB. Hard to tell with the noise but both don't sound very good. I'm going to check really quick." He looks around to see what's going on inside, then moves to the door to see what's going on outside.

Felix hurries back to the bar and nods to his wife, "Angie, take over the grill and fryer for a few minutes," as he gestures for both Megana, Johnny and Frank to go check, "Go check it out, but don't be gone too long."

Upon stepping outside, Frank sees a corridor of people extending from the front door of the school. Vi is being escorted outside by Deputy Stryker, Dane's dad, Coach Driver and that kid from Smith Falls, Marshal. It looks like she may be getting lynched.

Frank yells back inside for his father, "Dad, you need to come here something isn't right." Then looking around to see anyone else he knows to ask what's going on.

Moments later, Megana hears what sounds like a gunshot outside as Felix returns from outside, shaking his head, muttering, "Stupid drama."
