EOTC: The Living Nightmare - Shep
Re: EOTC: The Living Nightmare - Shep
“Let’s get that thing off their tail,” Shep broadcasts over the rush of air and the whine of the jets.
He quickly judges the distance and angles, where the kids and mounts are moving—making sure a missed shot won’t put anyone else at risk. As soon as the zombie enters a clean firing trajectory, he steadies the Silver Eagle and readies to squeeze off a single rail gun shot, aiming for the creature’s head. Yet, as he takes aim, Sgt. Williams, with his immense experience, takes the shot before Shep. The creature's head vanishes in a shower of meat and red mist.
The four wheeler comes to a halt just under the power armors. Hughe waves a greeting as Ryan, looking quite beat up, gives a thumbs up. Shep can hear Hughe shout up over the sound of the idling atv and the wash of the power armor thrusters, "Thank you! Is anyone left alive?"

“Sergeant—stay aloft and keep the area secure while I give these kids some direction,” Shep broadcasts.
He drops the Silver Eagle down to the ground so he can speak without shouting. Turning toward the ATV, he keeps his voice firm and clear. “The doctor, a couple nurses, and other survivors are holed up at the clinic. Two SAMAS are holding security there, but they could use the extra help.”
He gestures back toward town. “Head that way and follow Lieutenant Nico’s instructions. If you can, lead a few of these things in their direction. They’re trying to lock down a safe zone and start expanding it.” His helmet tilts forward slightly as his focus shifts. “I’m heading to the sheriff’s last known location to look for survivors and more support.” A brief pause. “Do you know if he’s still at his barn?”

"Roger that," Williams replies.

Ryan looks up in disbelief, yet says nothing.

"Last I saw, he was herding survivors into the orphanage. I found this fool trying to start this thing after our friends left him," Hughe shouts as he gestures to Ryan, "That was over an hour ago, maybe two." Hughe points at the four wheelers gauges, "This thing is low on fuel. I have about fifteen more minutes left in it."
Ryan slaps him on the shoulder and says something into Hughe's ear. Hughe shouts back at him, "Sure thing. And if you slap me again, I'll bust your face up more." As usual, Hughe's personality hasn't changed; even in crisis. With that, the duo speed off back to the Lieutenant and Sgt Major.
Another loud shot erupts as Sgt. Williams neutralizes another zombie exiting town. "Scratch six," he announces.

Re: EOTC: The Living Nightmare - Shep
OOC: I don't suppose you have a general map of the town so I don't have to keep asking where things are like "Where is the orphanage in relation to the clinic/hospital?"
Re: EOTC: The Living Nightmare - Shep
OOC: Orphanage, far west side of town, was on fire and Shep, Reggie and Mazur rescued the sheriff from it. So Hughe's information is older than what Shep knows.

Re: EOTC: The Living Nightmare - Shep
Shep thinks for a second before signaling Sgt. Williams to follow him towards the last place he knew the Sheriff was...the old barn since he knows the orphanage has already been compromised. He alternates between infrared and binocular mode on his HUD to watch for any pockets of survivors...especially those in immediate need of assistance.

The orphanage is nearly burnt to the ground. The heat from it threatens to start the library, Shep's favorite place, on fire. Without warning, Sgt Williams fires a single missile from his left wing at the orphanage. The resulting explosion isn't what Shep expected. A plume of fire retardant foam engulfs most of the fire, slowing it significantly down, "There we go!" He shouts as they fly by.
Upon flying over the bridge towards Reggie's place, Williams and Shep spot a band of roving undead blocking the road to the bridge, making it impossible to cross unless someone swims across... with the man eating fish.
"Sir, we get the sheriff first? Or are we taking care of them?" Sgt Williams asks, "I count four, two for each of us?"

Re: EOTC: The Living Nightmare - Shep
“Let’s clear ’em out,” Shep broadcasts back. “But we’ll come in low—I don’t want to damage the bridge.”
As he lines up the approach, Shep studies the figures shambling across the span more closely. Part of him wants to know who they were before the plague swept through his normally quiet town. Another part of him knows that once he does, he won’t be able to unsee it.

As they land, Sgt Williams takes Shep's lead. Shep lands and doesn't recognise the two younger individuals as they quickly advance towards the power armored pair. The other two look to be elderly that usually only attended church or community gatherings. They shamble much slower than the other two, but faster than they did before they died. They were nice people; husband and wife. The injuries to the man look as though he was protecting his wife before he succumbed to his injuries. He probably killed her right after.
Sgt Williams sees this too, "That's sad." Is all he can say.

Re: EOTC: The Living Nightmare - Shep
Shep lets out a low, frustrated breath, part sadness, part irritation. He lines up the shot carefully, scanning for anything—or anyone—in the background that might be in the path of the rail gun's projectile. With a bit of luck, he can take down two of them with a single rail gun round.
