Re: Re: Rifts Dead Man's Hand - Festival Day - Francis
Frank observes the guy before asking, "How much are you short buddy? I can cover what you're short, and before you think it's charity... I'm not out anything because it's a prize I won from one of the events. However if you would prefer to wait a little the greased hog is going to be cooked after a bit and it's for everyone since this guy and I couldn't catch it before it tried to eat him." He says while gesturing to Johnny.
The guy looks at Johnny's protruding bandage and sighs, "Umm, sure. I'm short three credits for the steak. Seven credits if I were to get whatever she was offering," gesturing to Heather. He walks back over to their table and reaches out his hand, "My name is Marshal. What's yours?"

Frank stands to shake his hand. "My name is François but most call me Frank. Let's get you the full meal. Besides the more sodas they sell the more I sell." He says with a grin while gesturing to the server to come over. "I'm going to cover his meal as well. So, Marshal, what's brought you to town?"

He drags a chair over, backwards and sits wide-legged on it, crossing his arms over the back of the chair. "My foster sisters and I get a 'treat,'" he quotes the final word, "We finally get to come to the infamous Hammer Festival. So far, it's a lot of hype and games all in one place." He glances at the door, "If I could afford it, then I guess I'd actually have some fun. In any case, thank you for your generosity. Much appreciated. I have no way to repay you."

"Don't have to repay me," Frank says. "You caught me enjoying the spirit of the festival and wanting to share some of my luck with the prizes. Plus everyone needs to enjoy a tasty treat on festival day."

"Well, thank you," He nods to Johnny as another soda comes out for him. He quickly takes a thirst induced sip, ending with the standard soft beverage sigh. "Wow, that is good. You make that?" He looks at Frank. "Better than the crap in Smith Falls. What's fun to do here? I mean, what's worth the credits?"

"Hmmm, thats a good question. Hey Johnny, what events are left for the day? I keep spacing out on the to do list we started with. I think it's from the obstacle course. Haven't been able to think straight after the second round. Still don't know how i passed it." Frank says while while enjoying his food and drink.
Re: Re: Rifts Dead Man's Hand - Festival Day - Francis
Johnny thinks for a moment, then raises a finger, "In about ninety minutes, you have stage three. The drunken relay races are going on now, so we missed that. Meg is about to compete in the steeple chases, which we could gamble on. High jump and barrel racing are this afternoon. King of the Ring is in about four hours. The dance off and singing competitions are tonight, probably while we're in that poker tournament. MMA fights start in about two hours. Other than that, we have a ton of random other things that we could jump into. Why?"
Marshal scratches his head, "I've seen the obstacle course. How hard is it?"
The food arrives all at the same time. Frank's soup, which he hasn't even tasted yet, is still steaming. That was fast! Frank nearly forgets what everyone is talking about as he's presented with a deliciously decorated, perfectly seasoned ribeye. It looks like it would just melt in his mouth. He can almost imagine the juices intoxicating his taste buds. The mashed potatoes seem to have been mixed with minced garlic and butter, topped with cheddar cheese and green onion. A dollop of sour cream and a small, silver serving kettle of savory chicken gravy are set off to the side. Some fire roasted brussel sprouts, soaked in bacon, garlic and butter compliment the silver plate that all of the food rests on for all three boys.
Frank looks up to see both Marshal and Johnny hungrily scarfing their food like it's fast food. For Frank, after years of brewing, he knows that this sort of meal is one to be savored and enjoyed. He almost feels that a good glass of red wine would be better than a milkshake. It just doesn't seem to fit the presentation.

Frank takes his time to enjoy his food while responding to Marshal. "Well, the first one wasn't too bad I don't think I came in last but still finished in time." Takes another bite before continuing, "The second however was so hard I felt like throwing up after beating it on my second try....hell the first obstacle beat me on my first attempt. I hear the third has no time limit but that worries me slightly." He takes a drink of his soda. "Which is why I'm eating all this deliciousness. I need to regain some energy and protein works best. I know some fruits can help too so I'll see if I can find some bananas and/or blueberries. The berries would go good in some lemonade....I think I'll wait until later tonight for the bananas. So Johnny do you want to tell him about your go at the obstacle course?" Frank says with a chuckle.

"Yes, Francis," Johnny replies matter of factly, "I miserably failed, giving me quite the rash on my face. Not long after, I got munched on by a big pig." He clears his throat and adds, "And you were last. That's why you went first in the second stage. At least you're second, behind Dusty in the third."
"Hmm, I might try it then," Marshal adds in, "I'm no stranger to obstacle courses. I used to do them when I was little for rock climbing in the rockies. Any pointers you guys wanna give me?"
Frank hears them, but the food is so phenomenal that he barely registers what either of the other two are talking about. Even the brussel sprouts, as much as he dislikes vegetables, that aren't used in his brews, having an amazing open flame seared taste. Mixed with the bacon, garlic and butter seems like a natural, almost addicting flavor. He keeps reminding himself to pace and enjoy the flavor, but his body screams to eat more.

Re: Re: Rifts Dead Man's Hand - Festival Day - Francis
"The first obstacle of the second course was the hardest. If you try the first one momentum goes a long way from one obstacle to another. Also be careful on the conveyor belt it's faster than it looks." Frank says in-between bites trying not to inhale his food because of the quality.
