While Frank waits for his turn he'll look around for something that can work like gripping chalk for his run. He also walks along the outside of the course to plan out how he is going to tackle each obstacle.

While Frank waits for his turn, he looks around for something that can work like gripping chalk. He eventually encounters one of the natives selling talc powder, which is usually used as baby powder, but serves just as well for grip chalk.
He walks along the outside of the course to plan out how he is going to tackle each obstacle. He sees the following obstacles for stage two in order.
Ascension Plateaus: 4 Six foot wide platforms, suspended by bungee cords and thick mats, making it difficult to climb over if a jump won't clear the contestant. One could imagine that struggling too long trying to climb will quickly exhaust a climber.
Launch Vector "The Ejector": Once a contestant finishes the ascension plateaus, they jump on a conveyor belt, moving at fourteen mph, and attempt to jump to a horizontal bar, which starts the Salmon Ladder
Salmon Ladder and Slide: A single bar is propped up by pegs. Competitors will try to use the bar to climb the pegs to the top, where, they must slide down parallel beams, without losing control, using the bar.
Slippy Slide: As the salmon slider completes, competitors must wedge themselves inside of a running water slide and climb to the top. This obstacle looks to be designed to waste time.
Shifting grips: At the top of the water slide, contestants are to reach across to a rock climbing wall. The climbing grips randomly move into the wall and out, causing unsuspecting climbers to lose their grip and fall.
Spin Cycle: Competitors jump from the shifting grips down to an angled basket, which spins backwards if the contestant grips the top of the basket. The contestant must then leap to two other baskets, spaced increasingly apart. Then leap to a platform that is questionably far away.
Beat the Bulkhead: At this point, the now exhausted contestant must lift a 200lb wall, then run and try and beat three more walls that would drop down. Should he or she be forced to lift all of the walls, each subsequent wall increases in weight. The bottoms of the wall are cushioned to prevent injury.
Pipe Dream: Twenty feet of pipes dangle from chains from the ceiling and secured loosely to the floor. The competitor must traverse across these to the far side, where they would complete stage two.

Frank will go up to the admin of the event to make sure the use of talc powder is permitted. If so he'll purchase some a container of it from the native selling it. Then find a way to keep it dry for use after the slippy slide.

Frank inquires with the gateman if Talcum powder is permitted. It is. He purchases a container of it for a mere credit. The gateman states, that he can have it placed at any point along the stage, however, it can only be used from that spot. So if Frank uses the powder at the beginning, then he isn't able to get anymore. If he places it after the salmon ladder, then the slippy slide will wash the powder off. If he places it in the cupholder at the top of slippy slide, then it could last the rest of the course.
OOC: Talcum powder helps reduce excess friction, reducing pain caused by tearing the skin. Basically in the case of stat rolls, it provides a bonus vs PE stat checks.

Frank will transfer the powder into a bag that he can roll up and carry in his pants. When it's his turn he'll roll up his pants and apply the powder before putting in his pocket, waiting for the start signal. He'll climb as quickly as he can taking a breath before jumping onto the conveyor to the salmon ladder. If he makes it to the grips he'll quickly reapply the powder before tackling the grips. If he gets past the cycle he'll go all out and sprint to get past the falling walls. Then while catching his breath will apply the last of the powder for the final obstacle.

Frank transfers the powder into a bag that he can roll up and carry in his pants. Larry, the stage announcer calls up Frank first, "With the slowest completion time on stage one, we have Frank Coulee!" The crowd begins roaring with excitement. New obstacles to watch people win or fail at. "Let's see if Frank can show us how it's done!"
The light turns from red to green, signifying his only remaining attempt at the course (two attempts per credit). Frank trots along the launch platform and up to the swaying mats of the ascension plateau. He launches into a good running start and leaps up, easily hoisting himself onto the first of four swaying platforms.
He backs up carefully, keeping his balance, avoiding a tumble over the back of the mat. He runs and leaps and only gets his arm over the top. He struggles and wriggles around for what seems like an eternity, but eventually pulls himself up and over.
Frank's muscles are already burning as he backs up again, realizing that the next platform is level with his face, meaning it's even higher up. He shakes his arms, trying to circulate the lactic acid buildup, which should reduce fatigue. He uses a burst of energy to leap to the third platform, making it look as easy as the first platform.
He studies the final platform, which is just over his head and thicker. It seems almost impossible. He bursts into a running leap and pulls himself up but can't quite pull his body and legs over. He tries to just slide over, but can't get high enough to apply leverage. His muscles begin failing as his grip finally gives away. He slides down and falls to the third platform, but his left leg misses and flips him upside down. He flips again off of the first platform and lands rump first on the safety mat, failing.
"Oh no! And he was doing so well!" Larry cries out as the crowd moans in disappointment. "Frank, you have to try the course again! I've never seen anyone think their way through the obstacles like you do!"
Thirty more competitors compete. Out of them, only three finish stage two. A woman named Tila Bennet, from Smith Falls, completed with seconds to spare. A man named Cory Belknap from Rifle Ridge, who almost failed on the ascension plateau, like Frank did, but nearly burst a neck vein pulling himself over the final mat. Finally, with the fastest time so far; Dusty Sky, the old hermit from Fort Hammer, breezed through the course in about 65 seconds. Up to this point, he hasn't had to use his second attempt.
"Next up! Teddy Swenson!" Larry shouts excitedly, "Mr. Swenson is a boxing prodigy and made stage one his personal slave! Give it up for Teddy!" As with all previous thirty one competitors, the crowd roars with enthusiasm. People are already lining up to attempt or reattempt stage one.
Teddy leans in and hugs Vi, which is something Vi may not have been expecting. "Wish me luck. Doing this for both of us!" He grins and stalls, as though waiting for something.

Vi wraps her arm around Teddy, "Good luck, slugger!" she steadies herself on her crutches and examines the course. She realizes that that was what Ted was waiting for as he runs up the steps.
"Alright! Here he is!" Larry cries out as the crowd is louder than it's ever been. Teddy smiles as he looks across the admiring mass then focuses on Vi, giving a thumbs up. The light turns green as he runs straight at the first mat. He easily jumps up, almost without needing his hands. He leaps up to the second platform with almost the same ease. He gets ahead of himself and falls as he leaps for the third, catching himself on the first mat. He looks in shock and disbelief as much as relief. He pulls himself up and easily leaps to the second mat. He takes his time and leaps onto the third mat with a slight amount of difficulty. He backs up and staggers, nearly falling from the back of the mat, but catches himself.
"Woah!" Larry laughs, "This obstacle is proving a tough adversary!"
Teddy leaps and clears the fourth mat, making even some of the better contenders look amatuer. He analyzes the launch vector, dubbed the 'ejector' by most of the contestants. This obstacle has a tendency of launching competitors before they can leap for the salmon ladder. Teddy carefully lowers himself above the treadmill. He drops down and manages to keep his balance. He leaps out and catches the salmon ladder. He hoists himself up and moves the hangbar rapidly to the next rung. He continues doing so until he slides down the parallel beams but the bar slips between the beams and Teddy falls to the safety mat with a light thwack. "Damnit!" He screams in classic Teddy anger.
"Oh no!" Larry cries, "At least he's made it further than most of the athletes! Both he and Frank DO have a second attempt!"
Three more contenders fail their attempts, as usual, most fail on the ascension plateaus.
Finally, Larry takes the mic and strikes a dramatic pose, "You all know what that means!" The crowd becomes so loud that one would wager that people in Smith Falls may hear the cheers. Steve walks up the steps, "The area heart throb and stuntman is back up here. Let's see if he can break another time record or become another victim of the course!" Steve makes it up there as Larry gives the cheesiest grin, "Okay Steve! How do you feel about this?"
Steve confidently takes the microphone, tucks his longish hair behind his ears, to which, most of the ladies and girls begin screaming and cheering, "Well Larry, I don't know yet. I have a tendency of acting before thinking." He forms a wan smile, nodding to the crowd. The cheers become loud enough for everyone to question if they'll suffer hearing loss.
"Well Steve, is there anyone out there that you'd like to shout out to?"
"Yeah, my friends. Thank you for believing in me," he waves at the audience and then hands the mic back to Larry.
"And I'm sure they're proud of you. Good luck, Steve!"

"Oh! Is he okay?" Larry asks, trying to get a better view as obstacle workers rush to investigate. After a few long seconds, Steve walk into view, waving at everyone. "Oh thank heavens," Larry wipes his forehead, "That didn't look good! Well, Steve." Steve looks up at the stage, "You still have another attempt. Right behind Frank and Teddy!" Steve's face lights back up as he didn't realize that everyone gets two tries.
