(OOC: I'm assuming if the coordinator didn't suggest the town vet, that perhaps the town doesn't have one and Brad is the next best thing?)

“Without a proper vet, Brad’s probably our best shot—and definitely more qualified than whoever butchered this surgery.” Dane’s tone stays even, but there’s a trace of quiet anger underneath.

He looks to Arthur. “Would you be willing to let us have our friend take a look at Thunder? No promises, and it might still cost some credits, but at least we’d be trying to ease his pain.”

Turning to Thunder, Dane gently runs a hand along the horse’s neck. “You’d like that, wouldn’t you, old boy? Get you patched up?” He doesn't expect any response, he just hopes the sounds of a soothing voice might help calm the horse who is likely a bit tense with all of the shouting and emotions.

Megana ponders between paying off the debt but she needs the credits for the ranch. She's not listening to anyone as the stress builds up, thinking, pondering her next moves.

Dane takes a moment before answering, “Yeah... Brad might be able to help with the medical side, but I’m not sure how much he knows about cybernetics.” He gives a small shrug. “Still, it wouldn’t hurt to ask. He’s probably swamped patching up the injured from the games, though.”

He glances back at Thunder, frowning slightly. “I know a bit about cyber, but I’m no doctor. Maybe between the two of us we could figure out something—at least enough to ease the pain. It’s a long shot, but maybe worth trying.” As he speaks, his thoughts drift toward what he remembers about cybernetic systems, piecing together fragments of things he's read. The idea of digging into research using his new tablet crosses his mind—then he hesitates. The memory of that thing and everything tied to it still makes his stomach tighten. "Megana, you know a lot about horses. What do you think?"

Megana stands there thinking, then says, "I'm able to help, but we would need a veterinary doctor to perform the operation."

Emily arrives, walking into the tent rest area, "Meg! You did great! Oh my Lord, you're gonna be famous!"

The coordinator cuts off Emily, "Dr. Greenwood could do it."

Dane can still see how the impulse receptors work and how they're off by just a mere millimeter. If the vet could successfully get to them, via surgery, then Dane could guide him on how to move the receptors into position. He just isn't sure how to secure them to prevent shifting out of position. He remembers, when he got hurt during the trials, some cybernetics have to be anchored to the bones, thus reducing maximum shift during muscle contractions.

Megana can tell that Thunder feels hopeful, unlike Arthur, who's hugging him. He sniffles, trying to regain composure, "So, let's go find this veterinarian.

Emily looks between everyone, confused, then asks, "What's going on?"

Thunder nudges Dane and nods much like a human, showing his teeth. Arthur laughs, "Yeah, he does his best to communicate.

Dane chuckles softly and gives Thunder another gentle pat. “No wonder you don’t want to lose him. He’s pretty smart.”

He hesitates for a moment, then adds, “I, uh… think I might have an idea what went wrong.” His tone shifts as he starts talking it through, a hint of enthusiasm creeping in despite the situation. “The impulse receptors — they’re what translate nerve feedback into cybernetic movement — sometimes get out of position if they’re not anchored right. When that happens, the organic nerves and the mechanical parts start working against each other instead of together.”

He pauses, realizing he’s been rambling, caught up in thoughts he can’t quite trace the origin of. Clearing his throat, he finishes, “Umm… anyway, if that’s what’s going on, it might just be a matter of getting in there and setting them right for good.”

Megana addresses the coordinator, "Can you send someone to go get Dr.Greenwood while Dane checks out the mechanical parts?" She continues soothing Thunder.

"Sure thing, Miss Damodred," The coordinator replies as he runs off.

Miss Hoffman watches Dane in amazement, "You're incredible. How do you know all of this stuff?"

Emily grins, getting annoyingly close to Dane, speaking loudly, "Wow, you guys are all like, super talented, right?" She also pets Thunder, who seems to move away from her. She doesn't seem to mind, "Can you guys teach me?"

Dane starts to answer Meg Hoffman but only manages a half-shrug before being interrupted by Emily’s sudden enthusiasm. He blinks at her like he’s not sure what to do with her; not having any siblings of his own.

“Uh… I don’t know…,” he says, giving a faint, uncertain smile as he glances around for help. “Maybe another time.”

Turning back toward Miss Hoffman, he clears his throat, trying to piece together a reasonable answer to her earlier question. “Oh, uh… I’ve just read a lot about this kind of stuff. Cybernetics, biomechanics… that sort of thing. Guess some of it stuck.” He shrugs again, hoping that sounds casual enough to end the topic. He gives her a subtle look trying to imply "I'll explain later when we're alone."

Grateful for something practical to focus on, Dane moves closer to Thunder. While waiting for the doctor, he runs his hands gently along the horse’s legs, feeling for subtle irregularities beneath the skin—the faint stiffness or warmth that might hint at how the cybernetics are integrated. It’s not much to go on, but it keeps his thoughts steady.

Now and then he glances toward Megana and Arthur, half-listening in case the conversation turns his way, but mostly he stays quiet, absorbed in the problem he can actually do something about until Dr. Greenwood arrives.

Now and then he glances toward Megana and Arthur, half-listening in case the conversation turns his way, but mostly he stays quiet, absorbed in the problem he can actually do something about until Dr. Greenwood arrives.

"Thunder is suffering a lot hopefully we can alleviate it." Megana breathes a long exhale as she soothes Thunder with treats and pets. Arthur also joins Dane and both Megs in comforting the poor horse as Midnight jealously snorts at Megana, stomping her front hoof.

Dane notices that the horse's synthetic skin... isn't. Whoever did the surgery didn't bother with using artificial fabrication to completely replace all four limbs, they used Thunder's real skin and hair. The pain must be unbearable!

Eventually, the event coordinator returns, and breathily announces, "Dr. Greenwood is already at the clinic. We're to take Thunder there immediately. He'll need Dane, Arthur and Megana. The rest can go to the waiting room."

OOC: Assuming no one has anything to do.

Dane quickly takes the time to run to the library with Miss Hoffman to retrieve his new tablet. He then quickly changes and washes up before heading back to the animal clinic, where Megana, Dr. Greenwood, Dr. Lewis, Mrs. Greenwood and Arthur await next to Thunder. In the waiting room, Miss Hoffman and Emily await news. Thunder is suspended from a thoracic abdominal harness, allowing the doctor to reach the ends of the bionic implants.

Doctor Greenwood smiles at Dane, "Alright, Stryker. You ready for your first medical procedure? I hear you know a lot about this technology and can help. We are going to make an incision and move the neural transmitters into the right position. Then we need to anchor the sensor to Thunder's skeletal frame. Dr. Lewis is going to sever the horses pain receptors going to each limb."

Dr. Lewis nods to Dane, "Correct. Whoever did this procedure has broken their hippocratic oath in favor of a quick credit. Although, I could work with Dr. Greenwood to maintain a small amount of feeling so that it's easier for Thunder to transition to his new legs. It will cost extra."

"How much extra?" Arthur asks.

"I'm sure one hundred credits isn't too much to ask, right Dr. Greenwood?" Wyatt nods in response.

Wyatt Greenwood begins coordinating, "Alright, Megana. I need you to gauge Thunder's mood and let us know if he's about to wake up. Dane, once we get to the transmitters and appropriate nerves, then I need you to guide us with how to establish nerve response within the technology. Fair enough?" He waits for a response from both.

Megana nods and focus on thunder but does wonder about sam. And plans to see him afterwards. But at this moment she focus on the task at hand and keep an eye on thunder.

Dane looks a bit uncertain when Dr. Greenwood turns to him, then nods slowly. “Okay, yeah—hey, when you know what tech it is… like the model or at least who made it…” He tries to sound more confident than he feels. He pulls out his tablet and starts poking around, finding somewhere where he can do some research. He starts broad—looking for anything on equine cybernetic limbs—and plans to dig deeper once he knows the manufacturer or model. “I just need to refresh my memory on some specifics,” he adds.

It’s partly an excuse—if he gets another one of those strange bursts of knowledge, he can just claim he read it somewhere. He’s a little nervous about anyone noticing the new computer, but that’s a problem for later. For now, he keeps his attention on the screen and the patient, ready to help however he can once the doctors are ready to begin.
