Re: Re: Rifts Dead Man's Hand - Festival Day - Francis
"Ow," Dane wheezes, struggling to pull air back into his lungs. "That hurt... but I think I’m okay."
He stares up into Meg’s face as his vision sharpens, her expression swimming into focus. Carefully, he tests his arms and legs, making sure everything still moves the way it should. With Meg’s help—not that he really needs it, though he doesn’t mind the excuse to hold her hand—he gets back on his feet.
"I think the greased pig’s out," he says with a wince. "Come on, I think we’ve still got time to make the horse races."
Meg wipes her hand in the grass, making sure to smear the grease all over instead of collecting more. She doesn't really help Dane stand up, but does show concern as the only thing that hurts besides a slight backache, is his pride. "Yeah, we've got just enough time to get to the betting booth, but we may miss the beginning of the race." With that, the two rush off towards the northeast to get to the betting booths.
Frank before his final attempt will roll his pants up to expose more bare skin for friction. oO(maybe if I get my pants rolled just right the fabric will allow for better traction while climbing)Oo Frank thinks over his game plan one last time and starts his final attempt.
Once satisfied with his preparations, Frank begins his climb for the 25 credit coupon. The climb is slow and calculated. He finally reaches where the 20 credit coupon was, where the grease is still thick. He begins wipe the grease off, in hopes of getting a better grip. Rolling up his pant legs helps, but after reaching the fifteen foot marker, which is where the 20 credit coupon was, the grease has built up enough to not be effective. He only has five feet to go to get to the 25 credit coupon. Five feet past that is the 50 credit coupon.
He shimmies another three feet up the pole, but the creators of this event thought it would be great to cake the grease on an inch thicker. Every attempt just has grease squeezing between his fingers, let alone causing his hands to slide, but he's determined. Getting within a foot of the coupon, Frank realizes that he won't make it much further. He makes an attempt to snatch the coupon... and misses. He slips down pole several feet, when he realizes that his hands slipped from the pole. He tries to wrap his legs tight, but it only keeps him from flying off towards the crowd. Like Dane, he lands hard on his side, but manages to try to reduce the impact, like Coach Driver has shown his athletes. He thinks it worked as he's only slightly winded.
Johnny runs over, "Dude! So close!" As the crowd looks genuinely concerned. He notices how high up he'd gotten and understands. They should have falling mats for this event.
"Oh my," Lord Stein cries out, "Are you okay?"

"Ooo, that's a bit further up there than I thought." Frank says when he regains his breath. "Didn't realize just how high I got there. The ground kinda comes up quicker than you'd think too. Would've thought I had more time to catch myself." He says as getting up and waving to show he's fine. "Well Johnny ready to go chase a hog?"

"Hell yeah!" Johnny replies as Lord Stein raises his fist as some helpers use a car jack to remove the greased pole out of the ground. Moments later, a cart is brought to where the pole was. Inside the cart, is a cage containing a pig slathered in axel grease.
A crowd begins to form as several other competitors from the pole climb enter the circle with Johnny and Frank. There is less of a turnout for this event; mostly because of a high chance the pig can cause serious injury. Lord Stein walks next to the cage as it's hauled out of the cart and placed on the ground. The pig is already squealing.
Far to the northeast, the cheers from the horse races have erupted as the horses must have started. To the south, the obstacle course is still running strong. Frank knows that he has very little time, after the hog run, to prepare for his stage two run on the obstacle course.

"OK Johnny let's get this over with got places to be," Franks says with a smile. "Here piggy, piggy."

"Okay Johnny, let's get this over with. I got places to be," Franks says with a smile. "Here piggy, piggy."
Johnny, Frank and all the other competitors know the drill, yet, Lord Stein announces, "The first person to subdue the pig and place it back into the cage becomes the winner!" and that's it. He knows that there is an unwritten rule that if the pig breaks out of the circle, which is currently being erected with quick jury rigged fencing, then there is no winner. Lord Stein walks out of the circle and allows the twelve competitors to get to whatever position they please.
The cage opens, the pig slowly walks out, snorting and trying to brush the grease off, until everyone launches into action.
OOC: Action?

OOC:Head off the pig and try to knock it over by wrapping around it's neck. Like a leaping tackle
Re: Re: Rifts Dead Man's Hand - Festival Day - Francis
Several people dive at the pig; some collide into each other, some eat grass and dirt. Johnny dives at it, only to get its back feet kicking him in the face. He'll probably get a black eye from that one. Frank notices that some of the competitors have been allowed to carry twenty feet of rope. Which is available near the spectators.
It runs towards Frank, who tries to get the pig into a headlock, mid-tackle. He succeeds, as the pig drags him across the ground. He tries to wrap around it, but it's moving too fast. Others try to tackle and miss. If others succeed in diving on, they'll just knock Frank off. The pig is relentless as it flips another competitor into the air from behind the knees.
OOC: Keep hanging on or try a new course of action?

Re: Rifts Dead Man's Hand - Festival Day - Francis
Frank will lossen his grip on the pigs neck to slide back and grab a back hip before planting his feet and try to suplex the pig backwards.
Re: Re: Rifts Dead Man's Hand - Festival Day - Francis
Frank loosens his grip on the pig's neck and slides back to grab its hips. Even with the grease, he manages to get a good grip before planting his feet in an attempt to suplex the pig backwards. Instead, his footing fails as the pig has picked up enough momentum to drag him around.
Four other competitors try and dive onto the pig, but miss. One manages to catch hold around its neck, only to slip and slide down, resulting in a cloven kick to the face. Johnny manages to dive and grab around its neck, yet the sheer mass of swine keeps charging forward, forcing competitors to dive out of the way instead of towards it.
"This sucks!" Johnny shouts, "My grip is slipping!" Frank realizes that his grip is also failing.

Frank is going yell to Johnny, "Take out his front legs" then he's going to try to swing his body around to kick out the pigs front leg to trip it so he can grab it before it gets back up. Last ditch attempt.
OOC:he's going to power kick for the trip so he might hurt himself in this action and aiming for the opposite of the one that Johnny can hit
