Lysanthra ponders what's happening in the life of Ingrid. This friendship may be beneficial to them both, she realizes. Liz takes her place at the table and lays her hands out for Madame Etna. She's expecting something generalized and impersonal but it seems like she hit close to home with Ingrid. Maybe she will learn something about herself today. Lysanthra takes a deep breath and confidently says, "My turn," as she smiles and looks at the fortune teller.

For a moment, Madame Etna regards Lysanthra closely. Liz catches a brief flash of fear in her eyes, but the fortune teller continues, slowly and cautiously taking her hands, studying them. After what seems like minutes, her grip seems to tighten slightly, like a child holding her mother's hand, frightened. Finally, she speaks in between involuntary sobs that she tries to stifle, "You've experienced nothing but loss, death, deception and have been the recipient of the consequences of others' greed.

"Since then, you've known love, but nothing like unconditional love. You carry on with the memory of those you've lost and hope to become the legacy of everything the lost have stood for. But this path will be difficult. I see many friends in your future and some much more recent. I see the family, of whom you reject, reaching out to you in desperate need of salvation, even if they don't know it. And... I'm so sorry..." Madame eyes are red and puffy with tears, "There will be so much more death before it gets better." She lets go of Liz's hands, her terrified gaze never leaves Lysanthra's own, "I'm sorry, I can't read anymore." She pushes the two credits forward, offering them back. She quickly stands up and leaves the room.

Out of the corner of her eye, she notices Ingrid staring at her in wonderment, "You just became infinitely more interesting, young lady."

Lysanthra was speechless for a moment. She slowly stood from her seat at the table and wondered to herself 'Damn that was accurate'. How much more death and destruction would come and would she be able to withstand it all? What did she mean by her family wanting salvation. That was far from what she thought about them. Liz shook her head to clear her thoughts and looked at Ingrid. "We should find a food vendor," was all she could think of to say to her. She knew Ingrid would be interested in what Madame Etna had told her but she couldn't talk to her about that right now, if ever. She generally kept things close to her self. Hopefully Ingrid would keep it between them. She figured she'd have questions later but for now they needed food and she was thinking that would be a nice distraction.

Ingrid smirks, like she knows more than she is letting on. After a thoughtful pause, she nods, "Okay, the Bison Stampede is the most wonderful restaurant in town. They muster up nearly anything you could imagine, especially if you provide all of the ingredients for whatever dish," she also stands, "So, Liz. Tell me about you."

Lysanthra walked with her new friend and pondered how much to say about herself. The conversation seemed innocent enough but Liz had a hard time sharing her world with anyone lately. She decided to take a big chance and let Ingrid in a little at a time. Lysanthra told her how old she was and that she lost her parents in an accident. She didn't dare discuss her current so called family. Liz told Ingrid she had been taken in by a distant relative instead. They discussed some of her favorite things comparing little things like kinds of music, foods, and general interests. Lysanthra didn't want to share many personal details. As they walked, they fell into an easy stride together. Liz began to feel lighter and relaxed a bit.

As they walk, they fall into an easy stride together. Liz begins to feel lighter and relaxes a bit.

Liz finds that they have similar tastes in music, food, shows and past. Ingrid's family was too killed under mysterious circumstances while away from Fort Hammer. They pass the competitors preparing for the greased pole climb in an attempt to win money. The competitors on the obstacle course fail, one after another. The food vendors, games and entertainment bring a cheery mood to the area.

Liz notices several people watching smoke rise over the southern horizon. A lone carriage heads towards the fire, along the same road to Smith Falls. Another horse drawn cart leaves the town stables and heads up a side street. For a brief instant, Lysanthra swears she sees Emily, her foster sister, in the passenger's seat of the cart with a blonde girl. She then spots Marshal, her foster brother, sitting alone on the ferris wheel, staring out over the surrounding area.

Suddenly, Ingrid is snapping her fingers in front of Lysanthra's face, repeating, "Earth to Liz, are you okay? I was just inquiring if you're interested in doing anything? Do you possess any adequacy in throwing darts?" She smiles as Liz realizes that she was lost in her own thoughts, taking in the scenery.

Lysanthra shook her head to clear her thoughts and looked at Ingrid again. "Sorry I thought I recognized someone," she quickly apologized. She didn't have time to worry about them. She had more important plans. "I don't know if I would do well with darts," Liz told Ingrid and smiled. "But I'm game if you want to play." She would try her hand with her friend and see how well she could do it.

Lysanthra shakes her head to clear her thoughts and looks at Ingrid again. "Sorry, I thought I recognized someone," she quickly apologizes. She doesn't have time to worry about them. She has more important plans. "I don't know if I would do well with darts," Liz tells Ingrid and smiles. "But I'm game if you want to play."

Ingrid grins, "Perfect!" The two walk to the Bottoms Up, Fort Hammer's local saloon. The line to get inside is long. While waiting in line, Ingrid steps out of line to check the surrounding patronage and tables outside of the bar. The dart boards are set up outside along the side of the bar. She grabs Lysanthra's hand, pulling her out of line, to the joy of people behind them in line. They walk over to the side of the bar, where a rope keeps the drinking patrons from leaving with their drinks.

Six dart boards line the outside of the side of the bar. Five of the dartboards are being used. A beautiful woman, with long red hair, slacks, dress shirt with a bow tie and an apron approaches, "Well, hello Ingrid, what brings you here?" Liz isn't able to determine if the woman is sincere or poking fun at Ingrid.

Ingrid feigns a smile, yet keeps composed, "Hi Angie, just playing some darts with my partner."

"Oh! Let me get you two signed up!" Angie grabs a clipboard hanging from the wall. "And the name of your new friend?"

"Liz."

"Alright, you two are all set. Anything to drink?" Angie asks, staring at Liz for a long moment.

"Just bring us my usual." Ingrid smiles.

"How old is she?"

"Twenty two." Ingrid lies. Angie nods and leaves to get drinks as Ingrid walks over and grabs some darts from a reserve stash inside of a stein glass.

Two middle-aged men approach, announcing, "Looks like we play you two next. Haven't seen you play yet. You must be good to make it this far in the tournament," says the taller, well built man, with a blind left eye and missing his right pinky and ring finger.

Ingrid nods, "Yes, I'm last year's singles champion and we won our first several games today," she's lying. "Do your best boys!" She exclaims as Angie returns with two cloudy looking drinks in inverted, wide, cone shaped glasses that are adorned with a toothpick of olives. Without a word, she takes Ingrid's money and walks away, glancing suspiciously at Liz.

Ingrid turns to Liz and rapidly explains the following, "We're playing a game called 501. The objective is to score points to subtract from 501 to exactly zero as fast as you can. The bullseye is worth 25 points. The very center of the bullseye is 50 points. The numbers are worth what they display unless you hit the thin line in the middle of each number or along the outside. They are the triple and double line respectively. If you feel like you can't hit bullseyes or triple 20s, 19s or 18s, then aim for the triple line along the left side of the board. It's how I started and began to win." She takes a sip of her drink, "Ooo this is a good martini! If we win this game, we get a by, then we play for the doubles championship!"

The larger of their two opponents walks up with a credit resting on his thumb and index finger. "Call it. Heads or tails," Staring at Liz.

Lysanthra immediately feels uneasy about this situation that she followed Ingrid into. She cannot show fear in front of these strangers she thinks. Liz straightened and confidently answers the man's question. "Tails," then smiled at Ingrid like they were two friends on the same level even though she knew they were clearly not. She would play this out and hopefully learn from it.

He flips the coin causing it to loudly ring over the roar of the crowd. He catches and slaps it on the back of his hand, lifts his hand and shows everyone tails. "You two are first!"

Ingrid whispers into Liz's ear, "You go first. Don't step over the line," She points to some tape that denotes the fault line. "And shoot for the center of the bullseye in the middle." as she hands the darts to Liz. It's sunny out and no wind.

OOC: She basically trying to get Liz to throw a hat trick, which is a lot of points. But if you can find a different, maybe easy strategy, then go for it. Remember, she'd asked Liz to throw for the left side if the first round doesn't score high.

Lysanthra hates that she let someone put her in this position but hopefully it will be a good natured and friendly competition. She decides there's no way out of this now so she will just try her best. Liz steps up to the line with darts in hand and takes a steadying breath. She raises her hand, judges the distance and aims for the middle.
