Rifts Dead Man's Hand - Festival Day - Vi

Brad passes the painkillers over to Vi and starts wrapping her foot. It may not be perfect, but it'll reduce the chances of her doing more damage to it,

once he's done and has repacked his first aid bag, he gets something to drink from Mrs Coulee, pondering if he should go and sign up for the obstacle course now. the day's only gonna get hotter. Maybe he should inform the festival council that Vi and Teddy's match will need to be cancelled first. leaving the announcement to the last minute will just annoy people.

"I'm going to go warn the organizers that your match need to be cancelled, then I'll come back and we can make our way over to the Course for my attempts." he says with a grin.

As Brad heads out, he also thinks that he should keep an eye out for that reporter lady, let her know he was gonna try the obstacle course soon.

He ponders if he should go and sign up for the obstacle course now. oO(The day's only gonna get hotter. Teddy calls out, "Hey Brad, thank you," with sincerity, which is unusual for Teddy.

Meanwhile, Vi's ankle already feels better, slightly sore though. Upon asking for a shot of whiskey, Mrs. Coulee promptly says no, reminding her, "Brad said it would be a bad idea, nice try."

Knowing that Brad and Kendal may soon compete on the obstacle course, Teddy grabs one of the spare walking sticks from near the door. He hands the stick to Vi, "Alright, Miss Trent," he addresses Vi, "Let's see if they can either make you look good or make me look bad." He winks.

Vi grabs the walking stick from Teddy , " now that sound like an idea . and maybe we can go see what else is there to do or watch . what do you say to that ?"

As Brad gets done wrapping up Vi's ankle she notices it does feel better , but knows better to push her luck . Seeing how teddy is being unusually nice , she still tries to be ready for any stupid ideas he may try.

Vi takes the walking stick, "Now that sounds like an idea and maybe we can go see what else is there to do or watch. What do you say to that?" Vi notices that her ankle feels better. She plans to exhibit extra caution. Noticing how Teddy is being unusually nice, she prepares for any stupid ideas he may attempt.

Teddy gives a wan smile, "I say we go watch Brad and Kendal either win the stage one course or wipe out. A good wipeout is fun to watch, so long as no one gets badly hurt," He glances at Vi's ankle. He grabs a second spare walking stick and hands it to Vi, "Here. Use them like crutches." He glances at his leg, "It's what I had to do when I twisted my knee... when we were fishing." Vi feels like there is more to the story.

Teddy leads Vi back into the throng of festival goers. Most are cheering near the three-legged races. Others are in line or watching the obstacle course. Music permeates the street in various corners along the main street. Random shouts and cheers come from the street games, which are mostly a ripoff. The carnival rides are finally up. The only one that doesn't look painful for a twisted ankle is the ferris wheel, the tallest structure in town, besides the water tower. Children run past as the two slowly meander through the crowd, headed for the obstacle course.

Cheering erupts from the three-legged race. Vi notices that Frank and Johnny took first place. It looks as though Sam and Megana and Dane and Miss Hoffman are racing to be second and third.

Eventually the two arrive at a good spot, where an empty bench sits, to watch people attempt the obstacle course. Another kid attempts and fails on the rolling thunder. After the kid, a middle aged woman falls on the quintuple step. After that, a native man makes it to the warped wall, misses the ledge and falls flat on his back, bouncing his head off of the ramp. He's helped off of the course, much like Vi was. Vi remembers her mother stating that the course causes the most injuries every year.

Teddy points out just beyond the course, "Hey, check that out. Tug-o-war!" He then glances at Vi's ankle and an, "oh yea..." expression washes over his face.

"Don't worry about it, I knew my options would be limited." Vi laughs as she looks at the ferris wheel then at teddy.
Vi then looks down at her ankle for a second," at least the pain has subsided."

"That's good." he replies, "Maybe it's not as bad as we thought."

It still has a tinge of achiness. Up on the stage, Lord Stein calls out Megana and Sam taking second place. At that moment, Dane and Miss Hoffman topple half of the racers by falling. They manage to get up as Steve and Maya are about to pass them. It'll be a close race for 3rd place. Lord Stein congratulates racers as they cross the finish line.

Meanwhile, next to Lord Stein, are Brad and Kendal, trying to get his attention. Kendal keeps glancing at Vi and Teddy with a hint of contempt in her eyes. Brad and Kendal step away from Lord Stein, obviously aware that they're bothering him.

Teddy taps Vi's shoulder, "Do you want anything to eat or drink? Only day of the year that candied apples, funnel cakes, bratwursts and snowcones are easily available. Or, I could see if Frank has anything to drink, once he's done celebrating."

"Hey Teddy," Vi grins, "If I give you ten credits to join the King of the Ring and you win, then would you split the winnings?" She gives her usual challenging grin before a fight.

"Alright, but if I lose, then I get to keep the ten credits. Do you still wanna do it?" Teddy perks. It seems like he's excited to fight. Vi's heard rumors that violence has been Teddy's only form of escape. Probably due to having a dad who's a big jerk.

Vi looks at teddy with a cheeky smile ,"yeah u keep the 10 credits reguardly. But dont be to hard on the others."

Vi cheekily smiles, "Yeah, you keep the ten credits regardless, but don't be to hard on the others." Teddy nods in agreement and stares back towards the winners of the three-legged race as Lord Stein begins congratulating the winners. His face flashes disappointment. As Vi follows his gaze, she notices that Megana and Sam are kissing. Then she notices Miss Hoffman on top of Dane, also kissing him. Vi remembers that Teddy and Meg Hoffman used to be a couple until the town regarded their age difference a problem. Dane is younger than Teddy, he has a "What is she thinking?" expression on his face.
