Reggie stops to gather his thoughts. Gesturing to the cop, he says, "The Crenshaw deputy there arrived in a car with his partner. Ryan was in rough shape after taking a punch from Donnie, Irina managed to help him into the car and they took off. The Deputy stayed behind to help me." He pauses as he attempts to get to his feet, then asks, "Where's my sword?" as he is hit by a dizzy spell, barely keeping his balance.

Shep's eyes focus at the mention of the sword. "You have a sword?" He looks around for any signs of immediate danger and the missing sword. "Deputy, are you okay to walk? We need to find some shelter and some better weapons."

The deputy shakes his head, "I think so."

Reggie blushes, "Uhh, I found the old sword my Dad made me when I was a kid. It's on the small side but it's solidly built, and it seemed like a good idea at the time. It was better than nothing."

"It's probably better than this revolver I've been trying to use." Shep appears slightly abashed. "It took me most of the chamber just to give Donnie the peaceful sleep he was earlier denied. With a sword, you don't have to worry about running out of bullets or needing to reload."

The cop nods, "or accidentally hitting a friend." He grins, "Your sword's right here." He slides it out from under his leg. "I must have rolled over onto it." He flips the sword, skillfully catching the blade with just his thumb and a finger, handing it handle-first to Reggie. "By the way, I'm an police officer, not a deputy."

The cop's radio chimes in, "5 1 1, this is 5 1 2. What's your status?"

His shaky hand keys his radio, "5 1 2, this is 5 1 1. I got hit pretty hard. Not quite sure how bad. I should be fine. How about you?"

"5 1 1, I'm watching this crazy fight outside. These two women are literally kicking the crap out of these walking corpses! You've got to see this!"

Another voice adds to the channel, "5 1 1 and 5 1 2. This is sheriff Harper. I have a small group holed up on the west end of town. Can you assist?"

The cop attempts to get up, but loses his balance, falling to his side, "Holy crap. How long was I out?" His eyes blink as though he's momentarily lost his sight.

Reggi takes his sword from the officer. when the officer has trouble standing, he offers assistance.

Hearing his dad's voice over the radio sends a wave of relief through Reggie, it's proof that his dad is still alive and kicking.

Shep offers to help the sheriff up and waits for him to be a little more steady on his feet before gently letting him go. "Let's see if we can get over to Sheriff Harper. We'll be safer in numbers. I'm going to need a better weapon pretty soon, too; I only have a few bullets left in this antique." He says as he opens the chamber in the revolver to see exactly how few he's down to.

{OOC: Shep's been looking around at every opportunity to see if there's anything nearby that would work as a weapon. Has he had any luck?}

Reggie takes his sword from the officer and gives a leaning shoulder to prop against as he stands. Hearing his dad's proof of being alive, he says, "We've gotta help them," as Shep moves to the other side to get the officer steady on his feet, then gently lets him go.

"Let's see if we can get over to Sheriff Harper. We'll be safer in numbers. I'm going to need a better weapon pretty soon, too. I only have a few bullets left in this antique." He states opening the revolver's empty chamber. Shep now remembers that the sheriff could have fired it also.

The officer slightly stumbles, then stands up straight, "whew! those people pack a hit!" he exclaims, glancing at the remains of Donnie. He releases the clip, examining a gap along its side, "Three quarters left..." he mutters. Then nods towards the side of town that Sheriff Harper had radioed from, "We have a rendezvous. Shall we?" Both Shep and Reggie notice that he seems pale and his eyes are slightly dilated. His stance seems steady, only wavering slightly. He keys his mic, "Sheriff Harper, this is 5 1 1. I have an older fella and a young man here with me, we are coming your way. Over!"

"Roger that, 5 1 1. We are barricaded in here. I count four hostiles. Procede with extreme caution. You already know how hard they hit. Beware of their bite! They will kill you! Over." The sheriff replies.

"Copy that. 5 1 2, are you able to assist?" He smiles to Reggie.

"Negative, we have injured here. Over."

"Roger..." His smile quickly fades as he replaces the mic on his shoulder loop, "We're on our own, gentlemen." The officer only takes a few steps before squatting down on one knee, promptly vomiting into the gravel.

As Shep ponders getting another weapon, Reggie looks back along the path he and the others had followed while dealing with Donnie. Wondering where the pitchfork and garden shears that the others had impaled him with fell out. Though hopefully they wouldn't try to use the pitchfork as a throwing spear like Ryan kept doing. :roll: "Ryan stabbed Donnie with a pitchfork over there," he says, pointing. "Not sure where it ended up."

He's distracted as the Dep- Officer stops and throws up. "You okay sir?"

As Shep ponders getting another weapon, Reggie checks along the path that the pitchfork and garden shears, used on Donnie, may have fallen out. "Ryan stabbed Donnie with a pitchfork over there," he says, pointing. "Not sure where it ended up." He spots the pitchfork lying in a small walkway between some buildings. He's distracted as the Dep- Officer stops and throws up. "You okay sir?"

It takes a moment for the officer to regain composure, "Just give me a minute," he gulps out, between gagging. Shep, Jack and Reggie each notice that he's trying to stand, but cant.

Jack calmly walks over to his ATV, "It'll probably be faster on these. We can avoid them and just get there."

Reggie nods at Jack's idea, then trots over and retrieves the pitchfork, though he keeps a wary eye out for more walking dead people. When he gets back to the others he asks, "So who wants this?"

"I can't hold onto it and drive at the same time." Shep indicates the pitchfork. "Can you hold onto it and me at the same time while I drive?" He asks Reggie.

"Officer, you okay to ride? Jack can drive and that will leave you free to to use that side-arm of yours if we need it."

{OOC: Sorry for the delay. On vacation and just now got time to fire the computer up. I'll do better now, though.}

Reggie nods at Jack's idea, then trots over to retrieve the pitchfork; keeping warily vigilant for more walking dead. Nothing jumps out. He returns asking, "So who wants this?" As Jack drives his four wheeler back over.

"I can't hold onto it and drive at the same time." Shep indicates the pitchfork. "Can you hold onto it and me at the same time while I drive?" He asks Reggie. The officer balances arm against the four wheeler, "Officer, you okay to ride? Jack can drive and that will leave you free to to use that side-arm of yours if we need it."

"Y.. yeah I should be..." He replies using his trembling grip to hoist himself behind Jack.

The echoes of high powered gunfire crack through town. As the echoes die down, it's source is south of town. If Shep could guess, clear out of town. The officer seems unaware while transfixed with just keeping upright.

OOC: Shep and Reggie are near the north side of town, since Lake Crenshaw is directly north of town, Shep never travelled more than one street into town.

Shep pulls up a mental map of his town and figures out the most open route to get to Sheriff Harper over on the West side of town. He wants the most direct route that avoids any narrow streets that they could get pinned in. Once he settles on a suitable route he looks to the others to see if they are ready to go. "Alright, let's keep it at a safe speed. The creatures..." Shep uses that term to try to avoid thinking about the fact that they used to be friends "...are slow, so we don't need to worry about outrunning them. Let's make sure we don't drive headlong into a mess." Shep fires up the four wheeler and as soon as everyone is in place he takes off at a quick, but safe, pace.
