EOTC: Z Day
Re: EOTC: Z Day
"Then let's go!" Mazur whispers, leading the way. He rounds the corner, his usual dwarven waddle slightly exaggerated as he babies his injured ankle. He lets out a wince on one particularly painful step, as they make their way around the building towards the garage. Carefully checking around the next corner before stepping into the alleyway, hosting to the garage's side door. He notices it's devoid of activity
"Please be open ..." he mutters to himself before testing the doorknob. The brass handle is cold, yet, like most doors in Camp Wilson, is unlocked. The only reason any door would be locked is if people don't want to be disturbed.
The door opens to someone mumbling a catchy, happy tune. Beth and Mazur vaguely make out, 'Come a little closer, then fold. Cut open my sternum... and pull. My little ribs around you. My lungs be crowns...' A distracted, attractive female, whom Mazur's never seen before, rapidly spins to face the two. She exclaims, "I'm sorry! I needed a place to hide! Please don't make me go out there!" Her young, pretty, brown eyes nervously bounce between Beth and Mazur from beneath a scratched, dirty face. She wears a very tattered dress, ripped enough to expose her left breast and barely covering her skinny legs, hanging in strands past her waist. Her delicate, scratched hands are empty with dried blood on them.
"Who're you?" Beth authoritatively demands, assuming an assertive posture.
"M... I'm Amy," she answers, tears welling up in her eyes. Mazur has seen that look of loss and despair before, especially in Shep.

Re: EOTC: Z Day
"She's frightened, Beth. Lost. Watch her, carefully ... but be kind," Mazur whispers.
He then turns his attention to the girl. "We won't make you go out there ... we're just looking for somewhere to hide too," Mazur responds, studying the girl carefully. "You're not from around here, are you. Do you know anything about what's happening outside?"
Keeping a wide berth around the woman, he starts working his way around the garage, looking for some suitable weapons with which to defend themselves as they converse with the girl.

He then focuses on the girl. "We won't make you go out there. We're just looking for somewhere to hide too," Mazur responds, carefully studying her. "You're not from around here, are you? Do you know anything about what's happening outside?"
She shakes her head, "I don't know. I saw them out in the desert. Then I ran to this town." She glances at Beth, "I'm from Crenshaw, originally. I haven't been back in months." she averts her face as she grimaces in pain. Tears drip from her cheeks, revealing some of the dirt to be dried blood.
Keeping a wide berth around the woman, he starts working his way around the garage, finding a laser torch first. "Wilks" is emblazoned across the handle. Mazur remembers Mr. Brewster stating it was the most expensive tool for it's size, but quite handy.
Beth doesn't relax, she's still maintaining an aggressive posture, which is unusual for her usual passive nature.
"I'm sorry. I may have brought them here." Amy cries. "I'm so sorry."

Re: EOTC: Z Day
Mazur grabs the laser torch, carefully testing it to see if he can sort out how to make it work, and then continues his search ... this would be great if it came down to a short range battle, but he would much prefer something which he could use to keep the creatures at bay.
"Well, they're here, and there's nothing we can do to change that now, Amy," he councils to the girl, "so it's really not important whether you brought them here or not. If they were in the area, they would show up here eventually anyway; and it's much easier for us to deal with them during the day than it would be at night."
As he continues to look around, Mazur's mind races. Was there maybe a useable vehicle in the garage that they could use to go rescue their friends, and then work on getting out of town until the threat was gone? And he still needed to find a couple of weapons for Beth, his friends, and ... he supposed ... now this Amy woman as well. A slightly morbid smile creeps across his lips as he forms a mental image in his head of the three of them in a truck, with the garage's plasma cutter mounted in the box, driving around in the streets, lopping off the heads of the strange creatures ... come to think of it, how did Mr. Brewster transport his tools when he had to work on site outside of the garage?

Re: EOTC: Z Day
Mazur grabs the laser torch, carefully testing it to learn how to make it work. He notices dials for temperature, intensity and width. There are buttons for safety and ignition. Also, there is a fancy digital display for battery life and fine tuning. This is great for close combat, but he prefers something to keep the creatures at bay.
A search reveals: an air compressor, acetylene and oxygen tanks, welding torch, about a dozen screwdrivers, a few rubber mallets, dozens of wrenches, portable hand drill, metal files, a wire brush, duct tape, several five gallon gas cans, a gas pump with 200 gallon gas tank, folding ladder, tin snips, pliers of various types, metal and cloth tape measures, socket sets, vice grips, dozens of ball peen hammers, two anvils, two tire irons, a wrecking bar, a pry bar, several flashlights and headlamps, multi-meters, a car jack, a hydraulic jack for hoisting vehicles several feet up, two rolling toolboxes, chisels of various sizes, wire strippers, mechanical and electrical solder and soldering irons, several full tool bags, six random tires on their rims, a pile of engine parts, a nearly full oil pan, an air powered drill, stethoscope, tap and die set, two battery chargers, a creeper, rust remover, engine solvent, nearly a ton of scrap metal and dozens of cans of spray paint. There is also something called a Wilks clip charger on the back bench.
In the far back corner of the shop, a large, chambered tank, with a tempered window and robotic arms inside, looms to the ceiling. The sign on it reads, "Amalgam Fusion Alloy Restoration Technology." or "AFART" for short. Inside, the robotic arms motionlessly grasp a hold of an oddly armored vest, sporting cratered impact holes across its chest plates. In the back of the chamber, there are arm guards, fancy gauntlets, leg plates and boots. All of the pieces seem to be part of the same outfit. Just outside of the chamber rests an armored version of a motorcycle helmet and appears capable of snapping atop the armored vest. In small lettering, the helmet reads, "Cpl. Grant Wilson, NEMA." There are buttons on the side of the helmet near the ear, where dried blood is smeared.
"Well, they're here, and there's nothing we can do to change that now, Amy," he councils, "so it's really not important whether you brought them here or not. If they were in the area, they would show up here eventually anyway; and it's much easier for us to deal with them during the day than it would be at night."
The sounds of gunfire continue drown out the occasional yelling and screaming. The strong smell of smoke has made its way into the garage. The loud vehicle stops outside of the back of the shop, where it now idles, emanating the sound of a V8 engine.
Mazur's mind races. There isn't a usable vehicle inside, but there is some oversized armor. And he still needed to find a couple of weapons for Beth, his friends, and he supposes this Amy woman as well. A slightly morbid smile creeps across his lips as he forms a mental image of the three of them in a truck, with the garage's plasma cutter mounted in the box, driving around the streets, lopping off the heads of the strange creatures. oO(Come to think of it, how did Mr. Brewster transport his tools when he had to work on site outside of the garage?)Oo Logically, he was probably working in town, needing his truck when hell broke loose.
Beth, finally distracted from Amy, takes notice of the rear chamber. She carefully examines the helmet, "I've never seen anything like this. What is it?"
Amy frowns, "What seriously? It's from an E.B.A. But that's a really old design of the Coalition States."
Beth shrugs at her, "and? What's the Coalition States?" Mazur hasn't heard of them either.
Amy's expression changes, "You've never heard of them? Even people..."
"I'm sorry, people from here don't tramp around, half naked, covered in blood, like you." Beth harshly interrupts.
Amy lowers her eyes, remaining silent.

Re: EOTC: Z Day
Mazur grabs the wrecking bar and pry bar, along with a few hammers, handing one of each to Beth and Amy. "Enough chit-chat ..." he states. "And unless either of you can fit into that armor, I think these are the best we're going to find as far as weapons to defend ourselves with." He pauses a moment, sizing up whether Beth or Amy actually could fit into the armour ...
"There's a vehicle running behind the garage," he adds. "And do you hear those gunshots? Help has arrived ... and that help just might be our only chance to get out of here alive. Let's go." Grabbing his sledge hammer, the coil of rope, and the wilks laser cutter, he heads back out to the side door ... carefully checking for any danger before heading back out into the alley to go scout the scene in the street.

He pauses, sizing up whether Beth or Amy actually could fit into the armor. Either could fit into it, however, it would seemingly float on them. It was designed for someone more muscular. It would still offer more protection without it.

Screams echo through the alley, originating from the street with the droning car. At the end of the alley, Mazur can see a black sports car with lights on its roof. "CPD" is emblazoned across its hood. Lake Crenshaw police are here! Mazur hears frantic, muffled voices within the clinic. The building the car is closest to.
Mazur feels Beth's hand touch his shoulder. Upon looking back, Amy's apprehensive stance and white-knuckled grip on her hammer signifies witness to the terror that she's encountered. She regards Mazur as if awaiting some sort of approval.

"That's a Crenshaw police cruiser," he states pointing to the vehicle. "And there are people inside the clinic. If there were monsters in there, I think we'd hear more yelling, instead of talking. We'll be safer in larger numbers than alone ... so let's head for the clinic. Stay close."
Heading up the alley, and using the car for cover as much as possible, he'll lead Beth and Amy up the alley and try to make their way into the clinic ... if there is a side door into the clinic from the alley they are in, that much the better.

Two more gunshots echo through the town. It's difficult to tell which direction they came from.
As the three crouch through the alley, they hear Ret's familiar voice screaming from up the street, "HELP ME! WHOEVER YOU ARE!" Up ahead, two incredibly attractive women step into view of the alley. Both seem focused on events unfolding toward the direction of Ret's voice. The brunette, with almond shaped eyes and an ornate dress, carries a blood-soaked sword. The redhead, who appears quite delicate, is unarmed and appears amused.
Mazur clearly hears the redhead laugh, "Oh! Look how goofy he looks! He's almost cute!" They both assume a slow advancing combat posture.

Re: EOTC: Z Day
A moment later, Ret arrives, immediately being tossed backwards by the brunette with the sword. They seem to agree on something, smirk and then leap into action. Four of the corpse creatures arrive as the duo compete in some sort of contest to see who can kill more living dead. The redhead, wearing a tight, revealing shirt, cargo pants and combat boots, shoulders the sword lady aside, then leaps high and easily brains one of the corpses, dropping it. She's immediately engaged with two of them as the sword lady recovers.
It's disturbing how fluid the lady with the sword moves. She gracefully dances toward the corpse closest to her, doing an elegant spin as her sword deceptively whips out, dismembering its incoming clawing arm. She looks as though she is about to kill it as the redhead leaps, spins, and launches an incredible heel kick, literally tearing the thing's head off.
The sword lady performs a complicated fancy flip over the redhead, knocking her backward, while landing, with an intricate leg movement. She doesn't realize that her sword became stuck in the police car. For a brief instant, Mazur notices that the sword is vibrating on it's own, shaving into the bodywork and the gas tank, like a hot knife in butter. She performs another delicate motion and quickly removes the sword.
The red head, by the his time, just sits on the trunk of the car, watching the performance. She seems amused as she crosses her arms. An arrogant smirk and knowing gleam in her eyes fade into concern as the brunette decapitates another corpse while being promptly smashed by the last one. She spins and seems to collapse against the side of the car. The red head leaps into a full blown fist fight with the walking corpse. Neither bothering to defend, both unleash devastating hit after hit. The snapping bones, mostly coming from the corpse, create a sickly echo through the alley. Mazur can see the redhead get hit a few times, but can't see how badly hurt she is as she falls backward; the corpse following her down.
Mazur looks back, the brunette is looking right at him. Her dazed eyes seem to move from him to Beth, then Amy. Finally, she dips her head, takes a deep breath, stands up straight, spins, and lances her sword through the corpse's head, nearly spearing the red head in the process. The red head pushes the corpse off of herself, stands and states, "We're even." in a strange accent. She stands between the brunette and Mazur so that all he can see is her round, firm buttocks, "What happened? You took that hit very poorly. Were you distracted?"

Her puckered smile answers the young man. “Take a break from all the chaos. Go have a seat in the rickshaw.” Yuno grasps the boy’s shoulders, unwittingly launching him backwards. She hears him skid backwards as his feet touch the ground, then tumble backward, sliding through gravel. “Lux, whoever kills more gets a back rub.”
Yuno and Lux lunge into the fray. Lux's determined smirk accentuate her eyes' mischievous gleam as she shoulder checks Yuno sideways; followed by thrust kicking the first zombie into the others. The next three zombies fumble over each other as Lux simply sidesteps their attacks. She leaps gracefully into the air. The zombie's head splits like a pumpkin as she lands an elbow onto its head.
Meanwhile, Yuno recovers from Lux's dirty move. She fluidly pirouettes, lancing her sword out, dismembering the closest undead's attacking arm, sending it bouncing under the police car. Out of the corner of her eye, she notices Lux smoothly deflect two more undead punches, then leap with a spinning heel kick. The kick cleanly tears the head off of the arm less zombie's shoulders. Lux's delightful eyes excitedly gleam at stealing the kill. As if choreographed, Yuno cartwheels over Lux's shoulders, not missing an opportunity to return the favor. The remaining zombies miss Lux, nearly hitting Yuno. She avoids their claws using an advancing tombré. Her rear leg launches Lux backward. A lovely ballet many aristocrats throughout history would forfeit abundant coin to spectate. Yuno's moves are nearly perfect. Her elegant tombré transforms into a sword lunge. Embarrassingly, she finds herself empty handed. In moving Lux backward, the sword had awkwardly stabbed into side of the police interceptor, slipping from her grasp. Thinking quickly, she gracefully avoids two grabs en passé, then uses a penché, ducking more clawing grabs as she retrieves the vibrating sword.
She methodically flows through the enemies in deadly and delicate choreographed twists, turns, leaps and lunges. Beautiful and serene if witnessed at any other occasion, but eerily haunting, considering the circumstances. She notices Lux smirking, apathetically leaning on the interceptor's trunk, admiring her performance. She artistically decapitates one of the last two. Yuno is promptly and unexpectedly smashed by the other's hammering fist. The surprising, painful force of the hit spins her; facing Lux. Radiant concern replaces Lux's arrogant smirk, forcing her to thoughtlessly bolt past Yuno.
Sounds closely similar to a brutal, alleyway fist fight erupt behind her as she spots three individuals behind the interceptor; nervously observing. An incredibly short, homely, teenage boy is accompanied by two teenage females, who're clutching ball peen hammers. The girl, closest to the boy, has horrible fashion sense. Her hair is hastily trimmed, probably with crafting scissors, causing it to jaggedly frame her naked face. She could desperately use designer makeup. The other female is covered in dried blood, dirt and tattered rags for a dress. The destroyed, yet revealing dress exposes enough of her nude figure to show potential beauty. Peripherally, she spots the rat faced kid's starstruck expression carefully examining her. The ringing in her ears finally fades.
What seems like an eternity, the wave of vertigo and ringing finally subsides. A deep breath forces back her composure as she turns, noticing Lux pinned down and frustratingly gawking. "A little help, maybe?" Lux complains, holding the zombie's arms back. She'd already broken it's wrists and one leg. Without any fancy footwork or dance steps, Yuno pierces the back of its head. The blade stops one centimeter shy of Lux's eye. Her wide-eyed expression focuses on Yuno as she tosses the corpse aside like useless waste. "We're tied." she slips in, propping herself against the car, facing Yuno. "What happened? You took that hit very poorly. Were you distracted?"
