Lucas nods as he slowly peeks around the corner and puts his hand on Jack's hand, preventing him from brandishing a knife. The moment he goes to peek, three armed and armored policemen walk around the corner.

"Good morning, folks! We are investigating a double homicide just around the corner from here. Have you folks seen anything?" Two of three officers fixate their gazes on Adrian and Mariam.

Jack lets go of the knife and turns slightly "Morning. Can't say that I have, we just arrived in town and are trying to get some medicine for a friend of ours. Though I'm sure we would be happy to keep our eyes open and let you know if we see anything" oO please don't delay us too long, please don't delay us too long Oo He looks around the party for confirmation.

Adrian sees the three officers appear from around the corner , and hearing the questions of the two homicides.
He looks at one of the officers,"As what my friend here says , we just got into town but we will keep an eye open."

Adrian soon after puts his right hand on the back of his head and gently rubs the tender spot .

"Who was it that's been murdered? Hopefully no one I know." Shep says with genuine curiosity. He also takes the opportunity to casually inspect the uniforms and mannerism of the "police" for anything suspicious that might indicate that they are other than who they say they are.

Two of the three officers seem to refocus their attention to Shep. The one who seems most in charge answers, "They are some local thugs but nothing too serious. They didn't deserve to die the way they did." Shep doesn't notice anything unusual about them. They seem genuine and following their protocols.

The third officer continues staring at Adrian, especially after Adrian speaks, "Is everything okay, sir? You seem confused or maybe intoxicated." His look is stern and serious as he watches Adrian's hand rubbing the wound on his head.

Shep speaks up before his new companion can respond, or interrupts him if he tries to get in a word first. "We just came from Camp Wilson. The town was attacked and Johnny here," Shep indicates Adrian with a casual gesture, "Was injured. We came here to get medicine for him and any others back home that need it."

The third officer replies confusedly, "Where is your sheriff Harper in all of this?"

"The sheriff sent us here." Shep responds. "He had his hands full at the moment and we were just in the way. Better to be useful here than a victim there, eh?" Shep smiles reassuringly.

The officer nods, his dark hair flows over his left eye as he looks to the other two, "Why don't you two assist these men down in Camp Wilson. I'll continue the investigation," He turns back to Shep, "What's the situation there? What is attacking the town?"

The two officers nod, "Yes, sergeant."

The sergeant looks to Adrian, "You," he nods, "when this is all over, I'd like you to come into the station and answer a few questions."

Shep thinks back to the river and describes the creatures coming out of it to the officer. "Sheriff Harper probably has things in hand by now, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt for your men to see if he needs any assistance. Now, if you don't mind, we have urgent business to be about." Shep hopes that the officer will let them be about their business so that they could get back to Camp Wilson to attend to anyone that was wounded in the attack.
