"Bugger. Hey wait!" Shep calls after them. "These suckers are big. You can't go pokin' em with a stick, they'll rip it outta your hands and shove it up your arse! You need some real weapons...guns. You don't believe me, just ask Irina and Beth. They ain't screamin' their fool heads off over some over sized trout!" Shep watches for a moment to see if anyone listens.

"You all stay here if you know what's best for you." Shep says to the one's that weren't fool enough to go running off after pitch forks. He gives them a look of a father talking to a bunch of unruly children before turning and heading back towards the river to see if he can keep somebody from doing something stupid. As he hurries along he looks for anyone packing multiple firearms so can ask for one of them.

The mayor seems to stop Shep, "Not again. Stay out of this and let us deal with his." The mayor, in his short stature, looks up at Shep and emphasizes, "NOT again..." And walks away briskly.

"This is my town, too, and I didn't bring this down on us," Shep says with more confidence in that last statement this time, "but I'll be damned if I'm gonna stand by and watch it happen. Go get your fool head bit off for all I care, but don't you dare tell me I can't try to do my part." Shep continues walking and as an afterthought says "I guess you could have the sheriff arrest me, but I think he's a little busy right now." Shep plans on taking up a position of safety and at least acting as an observer of the situation unless he can come up with a gun to use at some point.

Mel, the sheriff's wife approaches Shep as everyone scampers off to get various weapons. She regards Shep for a moment then reaches into her satchel pack and pulls out a large revolver. "Can you use one of these? It's Hank's and I'm sure he wouldn't mind you using it. Is he okay?" She seems worried.

Jack runs as fast as he can to get the barn to get the supplies. He looks for the rifles first trying to catch his breath oO What are they weak against, do we have any blades long enough to be effective against them. Oo "Reggie, do you think we should also bring any knives we can find? they could help if anything else attacks us" Jack quickly starts making a mental list of anything that would make a good weapon.

"Thanks Mel." Shep says humbly as he accepts the gun. He quickly opens the chamber and checks the number of rounds before closing it again. "Could use a few more rounds, but this is better than my bare hands, eh?" Shep gives Mel a reassuring smile and a comforting squeeze on the arm. "Hank will be fine, he's not alone." One final squeeze and then he turns and hustles off back towards the river, keeping his eyes open for any other creatures that might be around just in case this is a coordinated attack on multiple fronts. If nothing else presents itself, Shep slows before he gets to the river to take stock of what's happening and where he might be best able to use his limited supply of bullets.

Oo "Reggie, do you think we should also bring any knives we can find? they could help if anything else attacks us." Jack finds pitchforks, several hedge shears, sharp spade shovels and fishing gaffes. Reggie begins gathering up pitchforks as Jack finds the rest. Reggie smiles, "I don't suggest running with scissors." pointing at the shears.

Meanwhile...

.357 magnum Colt Python is written on the side as Shep opens and checks the chamber. Six rounds... On the way, Shep passes by the Brewster farm, noticing that Jack and Reggie are armloading an arsenal of sharp farm tools including pitchforks, giant hedge scissors, and the perfect fishing weapon, a man-catcher style fishing gaffe.

.oO Only six shots...I better make 'em count Oo. Shep thinks to himself as he hustles along the best he can. As he passes near Jack and Reggie he veers their direction and calls out as he gets close "Mind if I carry one of those fishing gaffs?" Shep hopes it doesn't come down to hand to hand combat. In his old age, he no longer has the strength or dexterity to be much good at it; but, having something in hand when he runs out of bullets could very well save his life.

Jack hands the of the gaffs to shep. "I grabbed everything that looked sharp enough to be helpful." .oO Hopefully we will have enough to stay alive Oo. "Come on guys lets get back to the others, no time to lose" He runs on, moving as fast as he can without dropping anything or falling.

OOC: think i found a pic of shep http://bit.ly/YqBkDf
